I have literally now seen it all...

The traffic is stopped.
OP didn't say anything about traffic being stopped. There were only 2 cars ahead of them. Looks to me like traffic was flowing just fine. If that's the case, that passenger should have been seated with her seatbelt fastened, not standing up sticking out of the sunroof taking pictures. If there were kids in the car, what a fine example this person was setting.

Have to disagree with you on this one. She is probally a passenger . Who has stuck there head out of sunroof at sometime in their life . We did when we had a limo for prom etc. Both our vehicles have sunroofs, our kids have done it . While stopped somewhere looking at animals etc.

To me, the whole putting your head out of the sunroof (especially while holding an ipad in both hands and not holding onto anything) seems like the least safe out of all the things there. If the car were parked - zero problem. If she were holding on - less of a problem. I can only imagine if the driver moved forward suddenly, she slipped or dropped her iPad... But I'm also one of those people who worst case scenarios everything.

You are doing well if that is literally the most ridiculous behavior you have ever seen.

Oh that's definitely not the most ridiculous behavior I've ever seen. It was just a lot of things I think are bad ideas, all in one place.

Though come to think of it... a lot of the most ridiculous behavior I've ever seen has happened at Disney. Case in point - small child on the monorail having a meltdown because she wanted to sit down and her grandparents sat down instead, so she began hitting them and the parents did nothing about it. That was... a lot.

We came up to the tollbooth and were totally confused because she was standing up with her iPad out. We thought something behind us was happening that she was taking a picture of, then we realized what was happening.

Traffic was definitely moving in a normal toll booth pattern - cars pulling up, stopping, etc. . Their car definitely moved while she was out of the sunroof. To me, there's a huge difference between a car that's momentarily stopped and a car that is braking.

It's definitely not something I would do, but to each their own.

That's what I figured. The car wasn't stopped. It wasn't parked. It was moving. She should not have been doing what she was doing. Florida law requires the driver and front seat passenger to be wearing seat belts. What she did was stupid, dangerous, and, unless she was actually in the back seat, illegal.

Good thing it wasn't NJ - back seat passengers required to wear set belt too, although it is only considered a "secondary offense" at this point.

You know - I was thinking - this person is exactly the type of person where something would happen, and she would sue DISNEY!

Ok I'm feeling self conscious now...I don't have a smart phone or a camera and use my iPad Mini to take videos and pics. I never knew this was annoying to others. Why??

Just think it looks ridiculous, walking around with an Ipad as a camera. Do as you wish, but I just shake my head when I see this. FYI Best Buy has a Nikon Camera for 50 bucks.

Not an Ipad photo fan or selfie sticks etc... but I don't see this as an issue. In their own vehicle not impacting traffic. If they were doing this going 40 mph might be a different issue. As far as the fine example for the kids...really... OHHHH for the sake of the children.... I won't get on my soapbox but I would say kids see much more dangerous things on TV from the show jack--- to assorted reality TV, to glorifying teenage moms, to uneducated knuckleheads, and just infamous TV personalities who are on TV because they yell and fight with each other or have sex tapes they had released... I will now go sit in the corner and be quiet
:offtopic:

We did something similar when my kids were younger and were in San Francisco driving down Lombard Street. My kids both stood up with heads outside the sunroof and recorded us going down the street. :) (Did the same thing with my parents when I was a kid). That memory still makes me smile.

Oh, honey, don't. Seriously, it's not a good look.
I'm not talking about the occasional selfie while in line or while eating, but just using it as the main camera...

It's not so much annoying as it is funny.

But do what you will. This is Disney World, not the White House or something.

Might I suggest in the future a simple, cheap, but efficient smartphone or an iPod Touch?
If for nothing else, than to have a pocketable camera that doubles as everything else.

Ok then..thanks for replying and sorry op for going off topic. I gotta say I'm a little surprised and amused that others are actually take the time out of their Disney vacation...or just life in general... to watch and judge what others do. i find it kind of bizarre, but I just don't have the energy, time or desire to worry about what others do. No I will not be buying a $50 camera or an iPhone or iPod because i guess I don't care enough if you are finding me ridiculous :). Plus my husband and daughter are the photographers in the family and have nice expensive cameras. I use my iPod mini to take easy to share videos and photos that I want.

Sorry to interrupt the thread...have fun.

The problem I have with people using iPads as cameras isn't how it looks. It's how it impacts those around them. When people use cameras/phones to take pictures, they typically hold them in front of their face so they can look at the viewscreen. With iPads, people often hold them up over their heads which blocks the view of guests behind them. Also, the screens can be pretty bright, especially on dark rides or outdoors at night. Many times I've had my view of an attraction or show impacted by the bright light shining in my face from the iPad in front of me.

If you are going to use your iPad, that's fine, but please turn down the brightness and hold the iPad in front of your body, not up over your head.

As for the standing up in a moving car issue, I'll have to agree to disagree with those of you who don't see a problem with that. I agree that kids see all kinds of stupidity on TV and movies but as a parent, I feel it's my job to teach my daughter right from wrong. That largely happens by modeling good behavior, not mimicking the bad behavior.

Ahhhh...I always hold in front of me so I can see what I'm taking a picture of. Makes sense to me now why that could be bothersome if it was blocking people or blinding people.

Thats up to you, just responding to your question.

Oh, everyone judges everyone.

Also, just think of the convenience in general of having a camera that can fit I your pocket tho.

At least it's an iPad mini though!
