I Have Done Nothing to Get Ready for Holidays-Now changed to *See my Tree* thread

I just wrapped my sister's and nephew's presents today and shipped them out. They might not even be home when they arrive! I know they have good neighbors. :) DS just put the artificial tree together and it's sitting in the middle of my living room. I don't feel like decorating. This time of year is tough.

*hugs* to Pin Wizard. I hope your holiday season gets better.

Glad to hear Oliver kitty is doing well! Duncan has a bit of an upset tummy but I think it's because I dropped a lot of the icing and a cookie or two last night and he's always there playing "Hoover." :D

I don't want to be a thread killer! lol I will continue to think everyone is really busy and they don't have time to post. I'll keep posting to myself if I have to. (I already talk to myself, so I guess that's the next step.) :p

I got all our Xmas cards addressed and stamped and ready to go!!! I have found it's a lot easier doing the simple picture card with a message already on it. Not very personal, but it'll do.

I still need to send my nieces' gifts out. However, my best friend, their mom, is heading down to NC. Her mom just had bypass surgery. She's doing ok, but it's still scary. So their Xmas is on hold. :(

We also finished our wedding thank yous, which have nothing to do with the holidays, but they're done!!! Yay!! Only took us two months. lol

Have fun at the party, Tulirose!!

How do you know you are addicted to a DIS thread??

....When you come home for your Christmas party and you check it to see if anyone posted. LOL!!!

The party was a blast! Danced all night long and I made the front row for the office picture. This is my second year at this job and last year we left before they took the picture and I *****ed and moaned all year about how I was left out. (The pictures get hung in our lunch room.) Well, this certainly makes up for not being in last year's photo. Being in the front row is usually reserved for the doctors and the office manager and the nurse practitioner! Hee hee hee. I guess I rate!

Walked into the house this evening and realized that this place is a WRECK!! I gotta put myself into overdrive and get going starting on ...ummm... Friday!

Glad to hear PinWizard and Eeyore accomplished a few things. I'm sorry the holiday season is rough for you, PinWizard. {{{Hugs}}} from me too.

Off to bed now. Gotta be at work at 8 a.m.

Tuli I wouldn't worry about the house, enjoying the Christmas Season is more important, and it sure sounds like you are having a great time.

The house isn't going anywhere and if yours is anything like mine, it's total chaos, grandchildren coming and going, spilling this, spilling that. I often sit there after a holiday and wonder why I bothered to clean and pick-up before the invasion.

May your Christmas Season be full of Peace, Love and Happiness. I'm off to hang 6 double roll of wallpaper. My new den furniture is coming tomorrow. This is the only day I'll get to do it. After the furniture arrives I'm off to work. Saturday morning we are taking the train into Boston with 6 other couples, some downtown shopping, tickets to the Holiday Pops and Dinner. I love this time of year and love sharing it with family and friends. :)

I'm glad to hear your headache went away and that you had a blast at the party Tulirose! :)

Good advice Mamu, and what sounds like a wonderful weekend in store for you! :)

Off to the mall again today, where all the shopkeepers know my name, just like at the bar on Cheers!! They all say, "Hi Snowwark, nice to see you AGAIN!" Actually they say ..Kim..... ;) :)

Warp drive, ENGAGE!! :) :p

Snowwark!: :teeth:

Thank you so very much, Mamu, for the warm holiday wishes and supportive advice. I am sure by now you are enjoying your new den furniture.

I want to thank all who have posted on this thread. It has been a great reminder for us to realize we are only human and can't do it all and that there are things in life much more important than whether or not that cookie dough in the fridge ever gets baked. I wish you all only the best for this holiday season and the coming new year.

That said, we don't have to let this thread die away completely. I can tell you that my accomplishments this weekend thus far include having my tree finally completely decorated (I wanna start a Christmas tree picture thread once I get a picture of it!).... we have put up outside lights and the manger scene is set up there also, just waiting for baby Jesus....DH bought garland lights to go around the door but we are having trouble finding hooks for it... and we shopped some more. I still have to go through all the presents and remind myself what I got and then I gotta start wrapping....

Out to visit some family tonight, so that's it for me tonight in preparing for next week. Enjoy the holidays folks if you are not stopping by again next week; but if you do, please let us know how ya doing.

Well said, Tulirose! Very true.

My updates - my mini-tree has 5 ornaments now! I bought the Beast castle at Hallmark, and had gotten the two little bride and groom ear ornaments. And then my mom's friend sent us a glass eeyore ornament today. I was cleaning and found one of the tiny ornaments of eeyore. Those plus the original "our 1st Xmas" one makes 5! So exciting! lol

Cookies were made, baked, iced, and most eaten. I think all the presents are bought, but still waiting for a couple to arrive. But we've told most people that we're still catching up with things and expect stuff after Xmas.

It's still a small Christmas for us, but it works. We're happy with it. :)

Happy Holidays!!

The grumpy grey thread killing donkey says....

I'M DONE! No more. Fini. Turn off the lights and lock the door.

Not really, but nothing more can be done til after Xmas. Three packages still to be sent, but they can wait. :) I got a very small ham for Xmas lunch/dinner (lunner? dinch?). No homemade noodles like grandma does, but I'll survive. *sniffle* I love those noodles. Thick and tasty. Mmm...

The house is partly clean, but since no one comes over, that's ok. Something good to be said for living far far away from family and friends.

Happy Holidays to all and I hope you're getting stuff done. Don't forget to take time to relax! Here... have a Santa cupcake... freshly made!

Well, I just had to resurect this thread for a few reasons.

One: I wanted to thank each and every one of you guys who posted on this thread and to wish you all a very happy and healthy new year.

Two: I will not let Eeyore get a complex thinking she is a thread killer of this particular thread. BTW, thank you so much Eeyore for the santa cupcake. It was virtually delicious. LOL!

Third: I wanted to check in to see if anyone had anything they regret not getting done. There may be something that you didn't do, but that is not what I am asking. I am asking whether your holidays were spoiled because of something you did not get done. Nothing like that happened here for me.

And finally: Inspired by Eeyore, I wanted to share a photo of my Christmas tree. It was smaller than usual this year and I did not put on all our ornaments but it is still beautiful in my eyes. I am also posting another photo of our newest addition to the family, arriving this past summer. She loved the tree so much and thought it was a present just for her enjoyment. So, for your viewing pleasure:

Tomorrow we take the tree down and little Nibbles who you see in that photo started the job already! LOL!

Love the tree....... esp love the red ribbon on the tires :teeth: Thanks for sharing!

Awwww.. thanks Tulirose!!! That's a beautiful tree and I love the kitty! Who got the tires?

I don't regret anything that we didn't do this year and we're actually kind of glad we didn't try to wrangle a visit to family, even though we miss them. One of DH's friends came over Xmas day and we had dinner and watched movies. (Men movies, but they were ok. Friday and Snatch.)

There are two cupcakes left. lol They got buried under stuff, I guess. No one wants to eat them now. :p

Happy New Year all!

Your tree is beautiful. It has a very classic style to it. :) Say, don't you know that you shouldn't give live animals for Christmas presents??? ;)

Having JUST finished Christmas with my inlaws, I soo enjoyed seeing someone's Christmas tree! It's beautiful Tulirose! And, the tires, those are priceless!

No regrets, just sorry several people were sick at the time(s) and, couldn't make it. :(

My tree's coming down Sunday! Well, at least the ornaments, maybe the lights.... :p

How cute, especially the one with the kitty. I love kitty pictures like that. :)

Thanks for sharing your tree with us. :)

Tuli your tree is beautiful. When all is said and done wasn't it a wonderful holiday. :) Other then the blizzard that kept us home Christmas night.

Our family gets together Christmas Eve, there were 35 of us this year, my how the family has grown.

Mamu and DH spent a quite week after Christmas. He was laid-off the day after Christmas. I was kind of glad he had been working 60 to 70 hours a week. Thats a lot of hours for someone who hasn't worked in 5 years. He will spend a couple of weeks home resting up, then back to work. Retirement did not agree with him.

Now I have to tell you from someone who was prepared for the holidays. I am very unprepared to put the holiday decorations away. A heavy snow storm Friday into Saturday has wrecked havov with my back. Looks like I'll be down for the count about a week.

To a bud who always brings a smile and lots of laughter to me. May your New Year be full of Love, Peace and a Garden full of Blooms. :) Spring is just around the corner, I think! :)

38 day count-down till my visit to the world. I can't wait! Just to get away from this snow will be heavenly.

YEA that is the ticket. I am going to try my best to make this a reality today too.
Tulirose, thanks for sharing the kitty pic. I miss having kitties under the tree.

Love your tree Tuli! The tires were a great touch! LOL! Kitty just seems to fit right in with the decor. :teeth:

My tree came down yesterday. Now I just need to start thinking about the spring gardening season! :)

Very pretty indeed, Rose, it looks very, very homey there. Thanks for sharing!!!!! (And that kitty picture is really cute, LOL) :sunny:

Lovely tree, Tuli! And mine is still up in all its glory! And so is everything else.

There was alot that didn't get done this Christmas. But you know something....it didn't matter...not one little bit.....

It would be nice to get the tree down before February, though...LOL LOL LOL LOL

And that sums everything up nicely! My attitude is don't sweat it because if anyone at all notices something not done, it will only be ourselves!!!

BTW - It is after 7 p.m. and my tree is still up. Did not take one thing off it. Got waylaid with some other things today. However, hubby did bring down all the outside lights and they are all packed away.

And as for the tires, to those who asked, they were "a gift of love" to our teenson. This is his third winter driving (first year shouldn't really count because he only had a permit then) but it is his first winter driving his 1999 S10 Chevy Pickup. When we had a bit of snow a few weeks ago, he was all over the road and turned around and came right back home. Snow tires, DH and I felt, would be the answer and they have indeed made a difference. (I think they are also gonna get some sandbags or something to carry in the bed of the truck, for more weight.)

So once again. Happy New Year All. Mamu, hope your back gets better quickly.
