I'm in the same boat as the OP. It's so easy (particularly when you work and have small kids) to slip into bad habits like fast food and not exercising. Last week dh and I finally decided together that we were ready to make some changes and loose the excess weight. I think it is really important that we are both on board and can use each other for moral support.
We are informally following the WW plan and we have lost between 4-5 lbs this first week. We try to walk on our treadmill when we can, and I have been walking or bike riding with our kids in the evening after dinner which the kids really enjoy! I try to cook at least two veggies every night, with no dinner rolls/biscuits, and we have taken away the junk food and added more fruits and veggies throughout the day. One thing I have found that is helpful is to plan ahead. I have stashed some healthy snacks in my office and try to eat a snack in the morning and a snack in the afternoon to help stave off hunger. I also plan ahead for dinner to help avoid the temptation of eating out (which has been a huge factor in our weight gains).
Good luck to everyone else out there who is going through the same thing! Food can definitely be addictive, and it's nice to read/hear about success stories from people who have BTDT.
