I have been moved out of AKL by Disney

So i got a phone call last night from my TA and Disney has called her to move me. I was prepared for this and already knew I did not want to stay at SSR. (Which is where they were trying to put me)

My TA actually called a few weeks ago about this and was told they were not moving me.
They gave me the choice of the Poly, bc, bw, or yc. I am going to take the poly. we are going 8/31 to 9/9.

Just wanted to let everyone knwo they are still moving people. Also I asked if I could move back to AKL after 9/1 but was told no. So I guess the construction is not stopping on 9/1.

I am disappointed we are not staying at AKL as it would have been our first time. We got a good rate with a pin code and was the only reason we were able to afford it. Although I have always wanted to stay at the Poly and could never afford to so it still should be a great time. Just thought I would let you guys know about my move experience.

I'm sorry that you can't stay at AKL as you wanted. I understand how upsetting that must be when you had your heart set on a place. It must be going to be very noisy and distracting there for them to move so many people.

But I am sure that you will love the Poly! Go with that attitude, and plan for AKL the next time.

Do you know what view you're getting at Poly? We paid the extra to have a savanna view room and although we haven't gotten a call yet (we used a TA as well), I want to be as prepared as possible. I really don't want to have a view of a parking lot even if it is the Poly. Yes, I'm one of those people where the view does matter.

We stayed at AKL 3 weeks ago and were right in the middle of construsction and were there during the middle of the day and really didnt notice it so I really dont see the Need to move anyone

I hear yeah with regards to the view. Whenever we go away we usually get an ocean view room.

We moved from at standard view room in AKL to a standard view room at the Poly.

If you have a savanaha view room I wouldn't take just a standard view at any other hotel if they move you.

The sad part is my TA called a few weeks ago to try and be proactiv and was told by a very rude cm that I was not being moved.

I tried to stay but everything I thought of they said no.

I asked to be upgraded to another room at AKL and was told there were none available.

I asked to be moved back to AKL after 9/1 and was told they could not do that either.

I have no choice but to move.

It took years to save for this and I always thought if I get a chance to go I want to stay at AKL. So . . . if we're asked to move I'm going to try and fight it. Of course, you can only do so much and more importantly I want this to be a magical trip for the kids. They don't know we're going. They just think we're going to Seattle for a trip while I'm at a conference. I'm lying - I can't wait to see their faces when we change planes and carry on to MCO. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we don't get the call.

OMG. That is the coolest thing. Will you adopt me? I so wish I could be a fly on the wall and see their faces when they realize they are going to Disney!!!!!

I am hoping for a room upgrade when we check in. My Dh is very freindly and hopefully we have a female cm and he can flirt his way to an upgrade for us.

Go into your User CP and Edit signature and scroll down to where you pasted the URL for the ticker. In the URL you'll see Trip+to+AKL+at+WDW

Go in and change the AKL to Poly. Make sure you leave the + around it.

I did try that, but when I go to edit signature and scroll down there is no URL inof to edit. All I have is a text box like I was posting a thread or reply. It will not let me edit the ticker in this box.

We are due to arrive 3rd October for 7 nights and I wish someone could tell us for certain that we will not be affected by the construction or would offer us the chance to move if they are aware that construction will be a problem.

My daughter was in wdw 3 weeks ago and using a digital camera filmed the ongoing construction work and its noise.

I could not believe how loud it was, there was a very loud banging noise which could be heard throughout the resort and a dreadful drilling noise which could be heard in the corridors, in reception and as far as Boma. This was just after lunch time & my daughter and her husband had to leave the hotel as they could not stay with that level of noise for too long.

I love the akl & have been lucky enough to have stayed there several times but as we are celebrating our 30th anniversary and I will return home to undergo major surgery we were hoping for a peaceful rest at AKL.

I have to admit to being worried about the confusion surrounding the construction and whether we are to be moved or not and wish someone would tell us what is actually happening.!

Three weeks ago, I called to make a payment. CM told me that we would need to move. 45 mins on the phone on hold then CM said I did not need to be moved. I was so upset I realized when I hung up that I never made the payment. I called back the next day and same thing all over again I picked the BC. Then I checked info on line about BC. Realized they have a sand bottom pool (DS has autism and some sensory issues) This would not be a good idea. I called back to move. CM said I could go back to AKL. I thought I was in the clear. Today I got the call that I had to move.So we will be at SSR. I think this is a good fit for my family but,I wish I didn't have to go through so much trouble.
Think of it this way. It is torture not knowing if you have to be moved. Everyday you hope you don't get that call. But for those of us who get the call, we know for sure where we will be. I feel horrible for the people who are still sitting and waiting.

Excellent news for those that are fortunate enough to be able to stay at the resort. They shouldn't have to worry that they will be bothered by the noise. I understand that they are only moving guests that would be affected by the construction. How wonderful that you weren't moved and weren't affected by the construction!

I read on a different thread that they are doing "core cement drilling" or some such thing, which would explain the horrendous noise.

Actually I think SSR is a great place. There are some positives to staying in a DVC villa (one bedroom or higher). You have a separate sleeping area and living area. You have a full kitchen; I don't cook on vacation but it is great for left overs, snacks, and cold drinks. You have a washer and dryer in your room; I always packed enough clothes to not have to worry about laundry, but having a washer and dryer I am able to pack way less. You have a King Bed instead of a queen bed. And you have a large jetted tub; to me that alone is worth the move.

I hope everyone makes the right choice for themselves and their families instead of just taking someone else's word for what is best.
