Some of you remember how I was traumatized when I had dd take pictures of me in my first dress, I just knew that it was all wrong. It is a beautiful dress, and it will make someone a beautiful bride.. just not me. It is ivory and taupe, and just encrusted with pearls, beads and crystals. It is strapless and I am very large chested. I didn't feel secure in the dress. I felt self conscious in it.

I agonized over it. I finally let df see me in it a few nights ago. He agreed that it was not the dress for me. He said that we would go together and search for a new dress. Well, I found it today at a local bridal shop. It is actually an older dress, left over from their Fall 2003 collection, so I got a great deal on it. It is white, has a 'tank top' neck line and straps. I feel fabulous in it and df loved it.

So, that is my first wedding crisis averted!

Now, I just have to get rid of my first dress. I bought it on ebay, new with the tags, and only want what it cost me for the dress and shipping. We are having a yard sale in a couple of weeks, I am thinking of putting it in that????? What do you all think?

if that doesnt work...check to see if they have a local consignment shop....by me theres several
or if all else fails, you could donate it to charity & use it as a tax write off at the end of the year.

Im glad you found "THE" dress...always go be instinct;)

Can you just post it on eBay yourself? I've done that with things I bought on eBay and no longer wanted. You could use a reserve so you are sure to recoup your expenses.

I'd love to see a picture of the new dress, too - I can never find tank-top style dresses! :thumbsup2

I've done this too. :thumbsup2 Or you could try craigslist.com. I've bought many things from there and see wedding dresses in my area all the time!

Glad you found a dress you feel happy with, otherwise you'd feel 'off' all day.

That aside, I love the sound of your first dress!

I did the same thing. I sold the one I didn't use on ebay. I got my money back.

My first dress is gorgeous, and I fell in love with it.. but it just wasn't me. This is what it looks like:

And this is my new dress.. now, I know you all going to wonder if I have lost my mind when it comes to the new dress compared to the old one.. but the new one makes me feel pretty, and the old one makes me uncomfortable.

And there are a couple of funnies to go along with the dress. You can't see it in the pictures, but all of the sequins are clear, and every so often, there are three that look like a hidden mickey. I didn't notice that until I was home with it.

And, when I got home, I put it on so mom could see it. Now, keep in mind this woman hated the ground that my ex husband walked on. She just despises him. So, I said that I had planned on ivory, but I think the white looks really nice against my skin tone. Mom is fluffing it and looking at and she says.. "Well Dana, of course you want to wear a pretty white dress for your fffffffff" and she gets this shocked look on her face and is stuck on the fffff sound. I lean in close and say, "Mom.. it isn't my first wedding." She wispers back, "But it is the only one that counts to me":rotfl:

that's sweet!
I see what you mean about your first dress - it's beautiful but being 'a bit big up top' myself, the ruche bit would worry me too. Your new dress is beautiful, and I think I'd feel 'safer' with a halter. It's important to feel great in your dress so I'm glad you found your new one and hope you enjoy wearing it.

I think both dresses are beautiful but if you don't feel comfortable, you won't feel pretty. I think you made the right choice. I'm the same way and I'm very uncomfortable in strapless styles. The dress I chose has an optional halter so if I can't find a strapless bra (which suck too), then I'm strapping that halter on!

That was another thing that was concerning me. I was having a lot of trouble finding a strapless bra that gave me enough support.

Congrats on finding your perfect dress! I would be a little wary of seling the other one on ebay and would check out consignment shops first, I've been trying to sell mine and had 3 horrible experiences on ebay! 2 were unregistered the moment after they attempted to buy my dress, one of those kept emailing me repeatedly saying he was buying it as a present for his fiance in Nigeria and if I could just send him my phone number & address & shipping amount to Nigeria he'd send me a check (I clearly said only available in the US all over my listing & paypal only, when I pointed that out in an email he just said thanks for the reply, please send me your phone number & amount to ship to Nigeria...). The third sent me a sob story about having a disabled husband & five children, doing a vow renewal on a tiny budget, but her feedback was for selling 8 wedding dresses & her user ID had "bridalfashions" in it! It seems like others on this board have had good luck, but I will not attempt to sell my dress again on ebay. If you want to try it I would make it paypal required immiediately after buy it now. Good luck & congratulations on your upcoming wedding! :goodvibes
