We are already starting to plan next falls trip. We really like the MK monorail resorts. We have stayed at the CR in a tower room
before and loved it, but we like to try different resorts every year.
I haven't walked around the grounds much at the Poly, only the GCH, we love Ohanas and Kona Cafe. Now, to my ?, when going from your room to the GCH do you enter via elevator, stairs? What would be a building to request close to the GCH, a view is not that important to us, but being central and convenient to the
main area is. Thanks So much.

Sorry I can't answer you, but I'd love to know the answer myself! This past June was the first time I had ever even been in the Poly as we had breakfast at Kona one day and dinner at 'Ohana's another. I just loved the resort (or at least what I saw of it) And the beach was fabulous to watch the EWP from (albeit there were WAY to many spiders).

I agree with you that the monorail resorts most definitely seem to be the way to go, especially when you can snag them with some of the discounts when they are available.

We stayed in Fiji and not only was it very close to the GCH we had a great view.

We just returned from our trip. We stayed in the Samoa bldg. It is a smoking bldg. I am not a smoker and I must say, there was no smells at all! We had a WONDERFUL view of the volcano pool as we were on the third floor.

Enjoy your trip!

You enter the GCH from the ground floor that has automatic doors...then you can go by stairs or elevator to the second floor where Ohana's and Kona are located. The first floor is the front desk several shops and a quick service eatery. The grounds are quite lovely at night with the torches burning. I find this resort very close to everything since you can walk to the TTC for the Epcot monorail and now with the walkway to MGM it is great for doing both parks in one day with no busses! YEAH!

Fiji's view (for a garden view room, that is!)

Note that Nuie is only 2 stories, and I don't think the second floor has balconies.

Best wishes!

Eeyore1928 (or anyone who knows): What/where is the "walkway to MGM"? We'll be at the Polynesian for three nights with two DDs (one a toddler, so convenience is key) in late Jan. and MGM is planned for one of our two park days. Thanks.

I just LOVE the Polynesian! Having walked on the grounds, all longhouses are close to the Great Ceremonial House.... at most a 5-minute walk, so I wouldn't worry way too much about the walk, whichever longhouse you are placed in. I just want to recommend Tikiman's website if you haven't checked it out already! It has everything you could possibly want to know about the resort. Have fun!

We stayed at the Poly a couple of times and the walk to the GCH is not bad even from one of the more distant buildings. If you at one of these buildings you have the option of walking to the TTC and catching a monorail or bus there or going to the GCH.

melish27,
The walkway connects the BW resort to MGM. It has been there a while but used to be gated and unavaiable (in theory, but the gat was never locked). THe best way to use it from Epcot if you didn't want to take a boat, which is available from EPCOt and much easier to use, would be to exit EPCOT through the back (between England and France) or "Nations" gate, then walk to the BW whick is to your left as you exit EPCOT, and just keep walking along the waterway... it's a long walk and the boats are a much easier way to go from EPCOT to MGM.
Hope that helps.

The walkway is marked with signs now! We just walked it last week and we beat the boat! It has to stop at Swan/Dolphin/Yacht/and Boardwalk! The walk is quite lovely and it is a nice break from the hustle bustle! If you are only there a short period of time you may want to go ahead and use the bus from the Poly to MGM...it stops at the Grand before heading straight over there. On your return you could walk from MGM to Epcot for a snack or dinner..or even Illuminations then hop on the monorail to the TTC which is an easy 2-5 min. walk to your room!

That the walk is a mile or so from MGM to the back entrance at EPCOT, and a good "hoof" from the back gate to the front of EPCOT. A lovely walk, but it will take some time... and if it's day 4 or 5 of vacation, those feetsies may scream a little!
By the way, one point of interest is that this gate used to be used for the Marathon, providing access for the runners between the parks.
Eeyore, that's cool that it's now marked, we used to use all the time before it "opened" when we stay at the BWV.
