I have a stupid question about tickets

Hi guys,

Like my title says, I have a stupid question about tickets lol. I'm pretty close to being ready to book my Disneyland trip, I have my good neighbor hotel finally picked out and everything. Originally I was going to book through Orbitz, but then when I compared prices with the Disneyland website, it's exactly the same price. So I guess I should just book through Disneyland.com with a package and get my 4 day park hopper at the same time, right?

I'm just wondering, how do you get your tickets when you book a package? Do you print them or do they mail you actual tickets? Should I even book through Disneyland, or should I go through Orbitz and buy tickets separately? I'd like to have actual tickets, since I've never been to Disneyland before, I kind of want to save them!

The only issue with packages is sometimes they are harder to cancel. Often when you book things separately you are able to cancel if your plans change. I think the only reason to book a package is if it is cheaper than booking it all separately.

As to buying tickets from Disneyland - they will email you an e-ticket, which you print off and can take straight to the entry gate for the first park you enter on your first day - there at the gate they will take that print out and give you an actual ticket. You do not have to wait in line at the ticket booth to do this. You can save those tickets once you are done your trip.

Also, when looking at prices on Orbitz, did you use a promo code? It may save you some money.

I always order my tickets directly off the Disneyland website. They charge $5 to mail them directly to my home. They are paper tickets, usually with a Disney character on one side.

Sorry - my experience is from Canada - where we just have the e-ticket option, they do not offer to mail the actual tickets.

We usually buy our tickets from a 'deal' site....last trip we bought through Get Away Today travel and they price matched my mom's Wild at Work employee deal. This time the price difference is negligible, so we are just ordering through WatW and not worrying about the price matching. GAT sent actual tickets. WatW will send a voucher, but not sure if we will need to exchange at ticket booth or can go straight to the gate. We have time on our arrival date though this time so don't care either way.

This is a good point to consider. If you get a voucher then you may have to go to the ticket booth and exchange it for your tickets. This is the case when buying through many 3rd party sites or a travel agent. This is not a big deal as was said, if you are showing up and have plenty of time to go to the ticket booth to exchange (we will do this on arrival day as we are not going to the parks that day). But if you want to be able to head straight to the parks either the day you arrive or for rope drop the next morning, then having actual tickets or e-tickets is more convenient, as that allows you to go right to the gate!

We booked hotel and tickets through Disney , we are in Canada too , they sent by courier a package with all our paperwork and our plastic park hoppers. Now that said we are staying on site so I am not sure if that makes a difference? But I have nothing to exchange just go to the gate. We are 100% prepaid . We could cancel fully prior to 30 days after that there is a change /cancel fee...

Are those actual tickets? I wasn't aware that DLR gave out plastic tickets. Could those just be the luggage tags?

The only thing that threw me is how do I put this in a fast pass machine? The luggage tags are at the top of my previous post.

The annual passes are hard plastic just like the souvenir tickets you received, so they will easily work with the FP machines.

Super cute and a great souvenir! Yes, @Girimama33 is right, you will just put hem in the FP machines like the regular paper tickets and plastic AP cards.

May I suggest you also consider booking through Dreams Unlimited Travel, who book through the Walt Disney Travel Company? They are the ones that sponsor these boards, and it doesn't cost extra to go through them. In addition to the package, they will help you plan, and if there are any deals out there, they'll get you the best one they can. They are always looking for discounts. I know this from personal experience. From my experience, the WDTC will send the hard copy tickets in a package 21 days prior to arrival directly to you.

Yes, APs are plastic as well and work in the FP machines.

When we order from the Disney site we don't bother spending extra to have them mailed. Order will call, print out the pages, go to the turnstile, have it scanned, and out pops the ticket. Easy and no extra cost.

Now I have a stupid question. if I order thru a deal site and get a voucher, I can go to the ticket booth the night before our first park day to exchange for actual tickets right? we get in Tuesday morning and will use that day to hit DTD. We won't be going to DL til Wednesday
