I booked it Sat. We have never stayed in a studio and now I am second guessing myself, our girls are almost 2 and almost 3. Lots of energy! This is an obvious last minute trip and due to freedining I have had very little luck with ADR's. Which I full well anticipated. But I am starting to wonder if I should try for a 1 bedroom. We have always booked 1-2 bedroom but this trip will only include myself, the 2 toddlers and another adult (not sure who yet). Is it possible to bump up to a 1 bedroom upon arrival? Yes, and pay the additional points but is it even an option? Has anyone ever done this? I'm just getting anxious about dining options and with a kitchen I can fix healthy breakfasts and lunches and then fast food for dinner if we must. I have only gotten Boma and Olivias thus far for dinners. Then what if I can't get another adult, and I have to do laundry and truck everything to a laundry room at the pool.

Sorry I am rambling......

It's possible to upgrade at check in if there is availability. (It won't be free, though).

If you really want the one bedroom, why not call MS and change your reservation? If there isn't any availability, you can waitlist and hope for the best, while planning how to "deal" with only a studio, LOL

For weekdays I would say yes, 8 points per night is a bargain for all the extra space and facilities. The weekends would be a tougher decision.

If you have lots of points to burn it is easy.

If it were me I would change to a 1br for the weekdays and check on a DVC discounted cash room for the weekend stay (so they can be linked), but I do everything I can to conserve points.

Week in a studio 80

Week in a 1br mixed reservation 5 wd nights 1br 80 pts 2 nights DVC cash discount we night 570+ tx

All on points 160

Then again you might check to see if CRO has a 1br OKW with FD for the weekend that would be nice even though you could not formally link it to your points stay.

My unlimited cheap fix would be to do points (1br) on weekdays and try and get a CRO studio on the weekend (have been about 169/nt), but I do not mind moving.

Guess I am rambling also.

I agree then if it doesn't match, call periodically as well AND ask again on check in.

Wow I was really rambling, what I was trying to say was there are lots of options for getting a 1br for all or part of your vacation but first you have to decide if it is worth it to you. I would be surprised if you wait list or keep checking that you would not get at least part of it if you do not mind moving.

I hope that was a little core coherent.

Note to self, do not try to do 3 things and read and post on the board at the same time

Since its official, the hubby is the other adult, I am calling MS in the am and inquire about a 1 bedroom. Booking thru CRO shows availability at OKW, BWV, and SSR. I know different inventory. But I wanted to gage any hope that it may be available. I booked the Poly for the first 3 nights and hopefully I can switch our studio at OKW to a 1 bedroom at OKW or BWV's fort he last 5 nights. Please sprinkle some pixie dust my way. pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

It would be easier to do your laundry in the 1br. I know when my twins were little they made a lot of messes and having the laundry right there made the packing lighter. Easier to dry towels quicker from the pools!

Well I got OKW 1 bedroom for all my nights but the last night. The good news it is in a perfrerred location near the hospitality house. We had the option of packing up and moving to a non-preferred location the last night but we decided if we have to pack up and move then try another resort so we booked the WLV's for the last night. Very excited aboout gettingt he 1 bedroom and we have yet to stay at the WLV's. We love the WL so we totally looking forward to trying the villas. WooHoo!!!!! 10 days and counting.

Great, are you going to try for the last night in a 1 BR at OKW so you don't have to move?

No, I look at it as an opportunity to try the WLV's. We haven't stayed there so heres a chance without commiting an entire stay. And I doubt a 1 bedroom in a preferred location will open up at OKW in less than 2 weeks.

How is that know already? Is that just a request?
Are you still at the Poly, too? So are you moving 3 times?
I would waitlist OKW for the last night or get a cash ressie not to move.

It is not a request at OKW. They now have designated buildings that are booked as preferred location. They do not cost more points but you are booking a catagory like you would at BWV's. The buildings are the ones immediately across from the hospitality house and the loop of like 23-26 (?). The info is listed on the DVC website under news updates I believe.

Yes, we are still staying at the Poly. We have it booked for the first 3 nights. We will mega tour the MK while there. Then we move to OKW for 4 nights in a 1 bedroom, and then on to WLV's for 2 nights, the first on points and the second with an AP discount. I didn't like the idea of moving for one night so I added another night. Although we tend to not move or move once during a vacation I am looking forward to staying at the WLV's and giving them a try.

This changed a year or so ago where this is a separate booking category much like BWV BW view. It is no longer a request requests for this options now would be practically useless.

Not entirely. This past May, I had a unit not in the HH category, but with a request to be closer to that area if possible, as we didn't have a car this trip. I was given a unit in 27, which turned out to be very convenient to the HH.

Sounds like a great vacation, I love staying CRO or cash DVC on the weekends and then doing a 1br or larger DVC for the weekdays, then a second CRO or cash DVC before we leave, it give us a chance to check out other resorts. We pack so we do not have to do a complete unpacking until we get to our weekday DVC and do the reverse when the vacation is ending. The bad news is a pretty much do not consider a studio during the middle weekdays anymore (DVC spoiled allready I guess)

IF there is none utilized inventory there is always a chance for a lateral move (same points) or to change on the fly for additional points in some cases where applicable. May, Jan and Sept are the best times for this for WDW.
