my cat belle is 14 yrs old and is very attached to us and i always get a major case of the guilts when we go away. i have a friend of mine come and live at my house and give her explicit instructions to spoil her. this year will be the hardest to leave her as we will be gone 17 long days and she has started to need medication 3 times a day. i often joke to her that it would be nice if she was able to talk to us when we call in to check in on her. i know, i'm a total pet-a-holic, but she's very much part of the family.
I know what you mean about the pet sitters. They come three times a day and it does run about the same you were talking about. I feeel better leaving them at home in there own house then putting them in a kennel though. they also love the sitter. They do have an Attitude when we come home. like you had the nerve to leave us alone. The suggestions about finding a collage student would be good to. What I like about our pet sitter is she is licenced and bonded. She also hold here own insurance so that if something would happen to here when she was with the dogs it would not be my home insurance that is respoinsible.
