I have a question regarding booking with DU

We booked several months ago with DU because of their rates and rebates. Now it looks as though they are offering an even better deal with rebates and credits. Do they apply that only to new reservations?? I know we get credit if the price of the cruise goes down, but I just had to ask if they also go back to past reservations and credit accts when their prices, due to special incentives, make upcoming cruises cheaper than original quotes. I guess I can always dream!!

I was thinking the same thing - We just booked yesterday, and today they came out with a better special! I am going to email my TA at Dreams and see -

I'm sure they will give you the extra credit, having just added this new booking incentive. We booked in September, so I really don't think this is applicable to us at all, but I still emailed our agent just to see. Guess it does not hurt to ask. After all, I am a rookie at cruising! Good luck!

Bad news- doesn't look like it... read the fine print (ie: terms and conditions)
* Terms and Conditions: Valid on all cruises booked and paid for through Dreams Unlimited Travel between December 26, 2003 and January 2, 2004. Travel must be completed by 12/31/2005. Shipboard credits are based on room type/category at time of booking and will not change if stateroom categories go up during the period in which Dreams Unlimited holds your reservation. Shipboard credit offer applies only to reservations where the reservation has been made, and the deposit has been paid, between December 26, 2003 and January 2, 2004 and cannot be applied towards any active reservation booked, or any reservation priced, through Dreams Unlimited Travel prior to November 18, 2003. Cannot be combined with any other shipboard credit offer or discounted offer (i.e. Florida Resident, Military, etc.). Note: Sailings in 2005 are not eligible for the promotion.

I did right to DU and was kind enough to get a reply by John who told me, in truth, what I already knew. Just wanted to be clear on the terms. Like I said, one can always dream!! Anyway a special thanks to John for getting back to me!! Your a doll!

Anyway, I remember when I booked, I had seven days to make good on the reservation with a deposit. So, if the poster above booked the reservation and has yet to send in the deposit, she "might" be able to get her price adjusted. Even if a deposit had been made, with a reservation this new, I would simply just cancel the original and then book another one that would ensure a stateboard credit and rebates. We could do the same, but since our reservation is months old, the chance the price of the cruise has gone up and the risk we take on not getting our specific cabins is too great to take. However, if I just had made a reservation, I'd definitely look into it!

I just emailed my TA from DU - Since I only missed by a day - I'm sure it won't be a problem - I'll let you know!

Hi Kaitlins Mom

If the cruise you are referring to is the one in your signature/count-down clock (4/9/2005) then I am afraid it is not eligible for the current Shipboard Credit promotion.

As per the terms and conditions of this particular promotion, 2005 sail dates are not eligible.

Sorry
John

We had a credit already from DCL for rebooking on board and then transferred it to dreams. I was all excited when I got their promo email thinking I was getting another 100.00 credit but I found out that you can only have ONE onboard credit and my 200.00 one was bigger than the 100.00 one they were offering. :(

I was a pretty irritated when this happened to me earlier this year...only about 3 weeks after I booked our cruise with DU!! I was told that it was only good on new reservations, and my reply was "it is not even a month old! Isn't that new?!" I was going to cancel and rebook, but that was too much hassle, I guess. Our cruise price later dropped $100, so we made up for it, I suppose.

I understand why they can't reimburse everyone on this, but I wish the TA would have been like "hey why don't you wait a few weeks!" That would be part of my cabana massage!!! (yes, only part of it!)

Hey John -

Yea, your right - I need to read the small print just a little bit better!!!

I still got a great deal and wonderful service!!!

No worries!
