I have a question about my points

I just went to mydvc.com to look at my points. It shows that I have 139 remaining in my 2008 use year and 174 for my 2009 use year. I am new at this, but I thought that they would use all of my points from my 2008 use year before starting to use points from my 2009 use year. Is this not correct? Unfortunately member services is closed so I am just sitting here worrying that somehting has gone wrong. Thanks guys!

What are the dates of your reservations and what is your use year?

If you have a reservation that falls within your 2009 use year, MS couldn't have used 2008 points for that reservation. To do so, you would have to first bank the 2008 points into 2009.

If that is the case and you have no plans for the remaining 2008 points, all is not lost. You can bank the 2008 points and then ask MS to "exchange" the 2009 points for the 2008 points that you banked. Shouldn't be a problem.

Yes, I do have a reservation falling in my 2009 use year, so that must be it! I will call tomorrow and have them banked and use them instead. Thank you!!

They will not automatically use the banked points in an existing reservation. While the implementation is variable, the rule is that a substitution of points is a cancellation and rebooking.
