Planning to go three times this year, and not originally planning to do the dining, I purchased an annual pass for myself. I Have the voucher, planned to activate in April.

Then, I was able to take the advantage of the 40% off and changed my April trip to a MYW package, thus having to buy a one day ticket to qualify for dining. ($75)

Now I'm thinking I should have done that first, then upgraded to a AP once there, applying the cost of the 1 day ticket to the purchase of AP.

Is there a way I can "fix" this rather costly mistake?

It's a $75 "investment" - not a mistake. ;)
I have the same thing, since I buy the FL Resident Seasonal pass, and I also buy the MYW base ticket whenever we do a Free Dining Package. Except I have to do it for a family of 4.

Options: Look at the base ticket as a $75 WDW gift card. Just save the base and use it towards the purchase of your next AP or whatever ticket. The only downside is that you will have to do the upgrade at a WDW Guest Services window in person. Or, you could apply the $75 base towards an upgrade to an Annual Water Park Pass. I think that the WP ticket is about $100. Same thing though, about having to do it at Guest Services.
Editted to add: Do not use that Base Ticket to enter any park. Use it to charge back to your room if you like, because it will be on your resort key card - your KTTW. Just don't use it to enter a park, or you'll wipe out the value. When you get it home, put it somewhere safe and label it. That way it will never expire and it will retain 100% of its value.
Hope that helps!

No problem. I hope you have a great trip! :)

Call CRO. I think I have read here that people have been able to get the AP Voucher refunded. If you can do that then you can leave your package as is and upgrade that 1 day ticket to an AP.

Good luck and have a great trip

We are going in April and currently only have a room only reservation. I was planning on using my AP discount if it offered during our trip. However, if there is a free dining promotion this might be a better optioon for us. I called Disney reservations, but they did not know anything about it. When did you book the free dining and is it still offered now?

Thanks for your help!
