Small town = lots of shopping online for gifts. In principle it sounds good, right? No mall traffic, no rude crowds, no gas used. So, practically everything was ordered online, and practically everything is not arriving as expected!

I have not had a good experience with any store this year. (except strangely, the only one I had never heard of before and was thus the most worried about- www.nextten.com They were terrific :) )No one is getting the items out as expected. Target, Costco, Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and especially Circuit City....it doesn't matter how good they have been in the past, they are all failing miserably this holiday season, at least in my case. Even Brooks Brothers has given me a fit.

Someone please reassure me that all these gifts will leave their warehouses and make it to their place under my tree by Christmas Eve!! :guilty:

Small town living here too. I did about 75% of my shopping online. For the most part my items are coming when I expected them. I am still waiting on 2 gifts and a pair of tickets. I have my fingers crossed that everything will be here by next Saturday.

I have had no problem with amazon.com this year,. they have been great. I ordered things on Monday and by Friday they are here! Even Dell..I ordered a new computer on a Tuesday and that Monday it was already here! I actually live minutes from 3 different malls but I don't like fighting with the people in there so I shop mainly online.

small town here too...i ordered from etoys, toys r us,,amazon, circuit city, american girl, jcpennys, and walmart,, and am only waiting on walmart, special order item,,,,all have arrived but ordered at thanksgiving

Walmart I had a problem with though!I just remember I ordered someting that said it was in stock about 2 weeks ago, just emailed me this week that "sorry, order cancelled out of stock" and now I can't find it anyplace else!!!

I am still waiting for 1 big gift for my DD. Who knows if it will get here or not.

** edited to add how's this for a kicker - I ordered some items online at abc distributing anyways I only got three of my 4 items when it came by Fed ex. Now the missing item is being sent regular mail and will not be here for christmas. It was only a small hand held game for DH's stocking but Geez. When I'm paying shipping Fedex when they pay regular pony express. :rotfl2:

amazon is giving me a hard time this month. I ordered on Nov 30 and expected delivery is now Dec 20! Granted I took advantage of the free shipping but still that seems like an AWFULLY long time.

i also ordered at that time and have received all my stuff from them with free shipping,,,,,good luck to ya ,,has it been shipped yet,,,if so maybe slow shipping due to holidays,,,my delivery men said they were all working extra to get the stuff out and work late also after 7pm i got a delivery,,,good luck

I ordered something from Kohl's around Thanksgiving. It took almost 2 weeks to get the items. That was really long. Now I found out the sent me the wrong Levi's, I wanted the 569's and they sent me the 559's-and they don't have no more in stock.

Nothing else arrived today. This is NOT good. :(

my3kids,

Sorry to here that, but it's horror stories like this that prevent me from ordering xmas gifts online other than theThis followers I got for my Grandparents and those were delivered yesterday. As some have mentioned people are still waiting for stuff that was order back on Nov 30th and still nothing.

I just ordered a DVD set from Amazon! I had it giftwrapped and sent to a friend. I chose two-day shipping and it said it would be there by Wednesday, so it had better be there! *fingers crossed*

I ordered from several places this year:
Gap, Victoria's Secret, Banana Rebublic, Toys R Us, Babies R Us, Cabelas, Penzeys Spices, Gymboree. I didn't have any problems, but I also had all of my shopping done by Thanksgiving.

I ordered tons of stuff from ebay last weekend (all brand new except one item).. Everything has arrived already except one item that was shipped on Monday from Texas..

Everything is exactly what I wanted and the sellers were very accomodating.. I had trouble with the "traditional" stores claiming to have items in stock, accepting the orders, and then notifying me that they couldn't ship until after Christmas.. I won't do business with them again.. In my case, eBay was 100% more reliable and super fast to ship the items out..

Next year I'll shop eBay too.. :cheer2:

I am beyond mad at Amazon right now. I e-mailed them this morning and amazingly enough got a response and soon after an e-mail that they were shipping part of my order. I took advantage of supersaver shipping since my order was upwards of 300 dollars. The order was placed on Dec 2 and was scheduled to arrive in January!!!!!!! Originally it was to be shipped on December 12th then the date kept changing. I had it when I saw delivery in late January. Two puzzles were on backorder (or so they told me today) so they were delaying my entire order. Ummmmmmm that makes NO sense! I have an online friend who ordered something november 15th and her estimated delivery date was after Christmas and I believe the date changed a few times. I was doing online shopping for DH's gifts so that we could take advantage of Discovers 5% cash back on online shopping. I have never been more aggravated though.

This is exactly what is happening to me!!! Why, 1 or 2 weeks later, are they telling me NOW that the item is out of stock and won't be coming!!

Probably because they're hoping that this late in the game you won't cancel the order and they'll still make their $$$$.. That doesn't fly with me at all!
