I admit I am playing the what if game

What if a flight that is supposed to be non stop changes itineraries what happens to those who bought EBCI do they get a refund

If you purchased EBCI for the original non-stop flight, it should carry over to the new connecting flights. That is what happens if you decide to make a change to your flight (using the "Change Flight" option on the website) and pick different flights or reprice the original flights. If you purchased EBCI, it is tied to the confirmation number and carries over to the flights you select. It should work the same if Southwest makes a change to your flight but sometimes things go wrong. If Southwest changed the itinerary and dropped my EBCI, I would call them to have it re-instated.

I believe EBCI is non-refundable so if your itinerary changes and you decide you no longer want EBCI, I think you're out of luck trying to get a refund.

In case you aren't aware, you only pay once for EBCI regardless of whether your flight is non-stop or makes one or more connections along the way. You will get checked in automatically 36 hours out from your first segment's departure time for every segment of your connecting flight.

Unlike Delta (whose name means change), I've never had Southwest change an itinerary. ONCE in dozens of flights with them, I have had them change the scheduled time (by 10 minutes...not hours like Delta). I wouldn't worry about it.

We've had an itinerary change. We had booked a connecting flight the day the schedule extension was released. Some weeks/months later, Southwest either cancelled the second leg or changed the departure time, making it impossible for us to make the original connection. They moved us to a different flight. It's rare but it does happen.

All due respect, Unlike Legacy carriers (whose names means change), I've never had Southwest change an itinerary. ONCE in dozens of flights with them, I have had them change the scheduled time (by 10 minutes...not hours like Legacy carriers). I wouldn't worry about it.

Schedule changes, even dramatic ones, are not restricted to a single major carrier at all. One specific passenger's (even multiple) experience with one specific airline doesn't in any way preclude other legacy airlines from dramatic schedule changes.

Now, back to your regular scheduled topic.

The airport itself will be open, but few if any food places, no stores, and the TSA won't be in place yet.
