b/c its making me a responsible person!!!

I was all set to make a little weekend getaway to WDW, free park tix, 1 night hotel free, just would have to pay air and an extra night at the hotel. But I just couldn't do it.

I'm becoming a responsible individual that would rather see my debt go down than spend $. Thats crazy!!! :teeth:

I'm not quite that responsible yet. I'll take the tickets and the free night! :teeth:

Aint it great to be crazy?

Welcome to the club!

FYI: I wouldn't take that trip either.

DH and I have the same problem! We're going to AZ to visit my parents and are debating if we want to swing by DL for 3 nights before flying home. Between tix, hotel, and meals we figure it will be about $800 total. But, the dog has her yearly vet visit in March, we are doing work on the house, the car needs some repairs, and on and on and on. We decided to see our our our taxes shake out. If we get a decent refund, we'll go. If not, we'll just visit my parents (we fly for free so it wouldn't cost us anything to see them).

I hate being an adult!

I'd take the trip, you only live once and that sounds like a great deal....although I don't know your debt situation, so it could be you made the right choice :confused3 But personally, I would go!

My debt situation isn't bad at all. But it is there. I agree that you only live once, but WDW isn't going anywhere, neither are those free tix/hotel. I've lived a little too much in the past and thats why I'm still paying off those experiences.

I've also gone to WDW alot in the past few years, so while it would have been amazing and I am disappointed that I'm not going, I'll get over it. I'm already planning for April/May when the debt will be gone. Kind of a celebration for me!

Nothing is a good deal or a bargain if you don't really need it or can't afford it. Passing up a "good deal" can be difficult but is often the most responsible choice. Jumping at every good deal gets a lot of people into financial trouble.

Congrats on making the "grown up" choice. Enjoy that feeling you'll have from being debt free the next time you visit Disney. :flower:

Good for you, sounds like you made the right choice.

I know what you mean about hating to be responsible, though. We just found out my DH is going to get a huge commission check (between $3-4,000) which is VERY unusual in his job. He just happened to make a huge sale of some obsolete parts. Anyway, my first thought was DISNEY CRUISE!
I'm dying to take the kids on a 7-day Disney cruise. However, even though we might technically have enough money to pay for the fare (if we went in Sept) we're not in a position to justify spending $3-4,000 on a vacation. I'm not sure what we're going to do with the money yet, but we're agreed that we're going to be responsible with most of it. We will have a little fun :earsboy:

Good for you Ziggy! It's very, very easy to just "one more quick trip" yourself back into trouble. And since you've gone to all that trouble to get yourself out of trouble...why bother getting back into it? ;). You'll just love the feeling of paying cash for that upcoming trip. It makes Disney seem all the more Magical :). You look awfully young in your photo (well, lots younger than *me* anyway ;). And if your CC Debt-Free, you're in a great place to really begin to build some financial security. Blink and it will be April and you'll be heading down to the World :)

Dear Ms "I Hate the Budget Board" :rotfl:

Reading a post like yours, smiling, feeling proud of the sense of responsibility and accomplishment you feel...even though I've never set eyes on you...

...is one of the reasons I Love the Budget Board!!! :goodvibes

Thank you for putting a smile on my face today.

Wow, April/May is soon! And the free ticks and room will still be there? Absolutley you should wait and go then! I was thinking you wouldn't be able to go for years and years and your free offer was only good this one weekend. And if your debt could be paid off by then, then you're doing great! It feels great to be debt free! My husband and I don't carry any, except our mortgage. However, I'm not a staunch believer in save everything you can and don't ever live, which is what I was saying in my first post. Life is too short, but on the other hand, you also can't go crazy with spending frenzys. Everyone must come up with their own happy medium.

You sound like you're doing the right thing in my eyes, being responsible and still having a life too! Congrats on your upcoming trip! Wish I had one planned! :flower:
