I HATE moonsand!

Not only do I hate moon sand - I now hate the famoly members that gave my girls moon sand!

Ya know what's even worse than moon sand? Generic moon sand that you buy at the Dollar Store. A "friend" hahaha gave us some and it is a nightmare!

DD had some for Christmas too, she has played with it once and we nearly killed our Dyson trying to clear it up. We have put it away until the summer now, it will go outdoors then! :lmao:

moonsand used to be an indoor activity, but I hated the mess so much that I made it an outdoor activity, I had the kids do it on a blanket in the grass...the moonsand that was left behind, never washed away, or went away EVER...after a year and a half..even when we went to sell our home, the moonsand was still in the grass.....WE sold our house, complete with moonsand filled grass..:rotfl:

:lmao: Well, that's what they advertise - that its good forever...clearly it is!:thumbsup2

The bad thing is I've bought it before - UH DUH! You'd think I'd learned the 1st time around

Actually we haven't figured out how to mold anything that sticks together yet - thus the super big mess & yep we had it on trays in the kitchen on the vinyl table cloth & its still a mess to clean up.

Many years ago, I bought some moonsand for one of my son's friend's birthday gift. My son was with me when I bought it and asked if he could get some, so I bought him one container. He played with it once and it was such a huge mess! I returned the stuff I had bought for the gift and got the kid something else.

I'm sure my niece is cussin' me right now as I bought her son some moon sand for christmas. Oh well, it looked like fun to me and DD19.

We just gave some to DN for Christmas - had no idea it was so messy until I read this :scared1: Oh well, DSIL seemed pretty excited when she saw it, then again, she's the type to cover her kitchen floor in newspaper and let her toddler finger paint wooden frames for everyone for Christmas gifts, so messes don't seem to phase her.

I don't get it.

It sweeps up. Does not dry up and get hard like play doh. It's fun and my son can play with it for hours.

I don't see what's so horrible about it. Now glitter is another matter.

Note to self: Give moonsand to the nephews for their birthday ;)

This is definitely the gift you give to children you love of parents that you don't.

Santa gave my kids Moonsand a few years ago. It was amazing how quickly it disappeared bit by bit.;)

Got some for my 2 1/2 yo DGD when she and family visited this past summer. I'd never heard of the stuff, but thought it looked like fun. While the rest of the family was out doing whatever, I let her play with it. Poured it into an 8 X 12 cake pan on the (wipeable table cloth) dining room table. Well...that lasted about five minutes! Fortunately, I have hardwood floors, so easily cleaned. However, DGD spent half an hour in the tub. Parents are still cleaning it out of her ears, I think. Nasty stuff!

The people who gave my kids Lite Brites for Christmas many years ago are still in the Witness Protection Program due to my murder-for-hire plot...after I went through two vacuum cleaners and one full carpet change! When I was a kid (Paleolithic, Neolithic - can't remember), my brother got an Erector Set, with miniscule screws, nuts and bolts and tiny screwdrivers. My Mom threw the whole thing out after a couple of days of sweeping and vacuuming. The inventors of this stuff are probably hiding out as millionaires somewhere, with access to their Swiss Bank accounts.

Now see, our moon sand acted like glitter. It got everywhere! I would sweep and sweep and there would still be tiny little sand grains stuck to the grout. Then the broom got moon sand stuck in it, so I transported the moon sand to the rest of the house.

Glitter is also banned in our house!
