I was listening to the radio and I heard some Hall & Oates music come on and I thought " I haven't heard that in a long time! I like that song!" I was all excited. It wasn't them singing the song, and most of the song didn't even have the same lyrics. I think they said it was Simply Red's Sunrise. I call it junk. The only song that I've heard that was semi stolen like that that I liked was the one Puff Daddy borrowed from Sting (I think that's the name he went by at the time ). I really like that song. Especially the part with what's his name's widow singing. She has a great voice.

Now I need to hear Hall & Oates song so I can stop ranting.

LOL! I agree. That happened to me recently in the car. It was Love Bites, sung by a woman(I think) and it was more of an upbeat dance tune. Defintely not how that song was meant to be.

Camcolt, please tell me you're not talking about Def Leppard's Love Bites. I love that song. I would think anyone borrowing any part of that song would mutilate the song.

Yep, that was it! When it first came on I thought oh a remake, well I like the song, so thats good. Then I listened to it for a minute and said to DH "What did they do?".

Most of the time I hate it when the do that there is one excetion I can think of though its the new verison of the " Paved paradise and put up a parking lot" song that was in Two Weeks Notice.

I relaly like that remake.

Most remakes should leave it to the original though

I agree. I like Counting Crows remake of "Big Yellow Taxi" I didn't really like the original by Joni Mitchell.

The thing is, many rap and r&b artists simply sample the song and do not actually remake it. Many make a career off of doing this like Will Smith and Puff Daddy. Some are cool, some are annoying. Many younger people don't even know that most of the songs are old songs.

ILove8Trax, the music they were playing was Private Eyes, but they weren't use the lyrics. I love that song.

My dd's name is Sara btw. I love that song too. We tell her her name is more after the Fleetwood Mac Sara, but she likes to hear Hall and Oats and Starships' Sara versions also.
