My sister has to take one of her beautiful lop-eared bunnies to an emergency vet clinic tonight. She didn't think it was wise to wait until morning when the regular vet's office opens. The little guy didn't want to eat his treat last night (very rare for him). Today, he's still not eating and his stomach is gurgling. It's hard to tell if the food is disappearing or if he's making pellets because he shares the pen with his twin sister and she seems to be fine. It's hard to tell who made the dent in the food and who filled the litterbox. In fact, the little girl bunny is probably freaking out at home alone while my sister takes her brother to the vet. I'm waiting for her to call and let me know what they said. I think it's time to go hug all four of my sweet bunnies!

Oh, I hope he's okay! We've had a few bunnies grace our lives and they are such lovely pets. In fact, I was bunnygal before i was minkydog.:goodvibes Sending your bunny some good thoughts and happy feelings tonight.

Thanks for the good thoughts! Aren't bunnies great pets? I have a rather large, brown one sitting on my foot right now. She enjoys doing that for some reason! At least my foot is nice and warm!:)

:goodvibes They are the best. We had a wonderful little tiny dwarf Himalayan named Phoenix who had the run of the downstairs--he was too little to get up or down the stairs. He was litter box trained and very neat. He loved to come hop up on your lap if you sat on the floor. Unfortunately, someone stepped on his front paw and broke both bones. The vet taped it up for us and he had his little arm in a cast for about 4 weeks. When it came time to take the tape off I unwound it and *gulp!* the foot fell off in my hand.:scared1: Not to worry though. It didn't slow him down. He just had one short paw. He finally gave up the ghost around age 5.

We also had Steven and Patches. They were rescue rabbits, big honkin' boys that were at least half domestic, the rest wild. And wild they were. They were great rabbits until about 5 months old, then they turned in to manic, testosterone-driven wild things! If anyone dared approach them they would attack your ankles in tandem! And they would keeping biting and biting! We tried everything to manage those boys but in the end we had to take them back to the rescue group. All our legs were bitten up and we threw in the towel.:guilty:

Hope things are going well for the bunny. I've spent more hours at the ER vet than I care to think of. It is hard to go in on one day, then see the sun rise the next morning and still not know if your loved pet will be coming home.

My husband won a lop-ear bunny at our regional fair when we were dating. Bunny was a very gentle creature. Good luck to your sis and her bunny. I don't blame her for not wanting to wait.

My sister's sweet little bunny died today at the animal hospital. His digestive system just shut down and nothing was coming in or out. He finally just went to sleep.:sad1:

We're very worried about his twin sister. They have been a bonded pair since birth and they've hardly ever been apart. She was upset and confused today after he went to the hospital and my sister even left work early to go home and check on her. She's going to be depressed without her brother. We'll have to give her extra love and treats.

I am so sorry to see the update. Please convey my condolences to your sister. I'm sure that sweet bunnies are welcomed at the Rainbow Bridge.

So sorry to hear about the bunny! :sad1: We lost our Netherland dwarf a couple years ago and still miss her. Now we have 2 Lionheads and I dread the thought of losing them one day. The 2 1/2 yr old has trouble when he sheds and almost died twice, even though we are constantly grooming him. It's just horrible when they stop eating and going to the bathroom. Hope the bunny's sister does fine! :)

I'm so sorry to hear that. We had bunnies for a few years and they are sweet little pets.
