I HATE, HATE., HATE the Yasmin commercial!!!

But if we boycott the happy period people AND the people who have the insane woman accost us in the grocery store, we've pretty much eliminated alot of options!

And WHY do they have to advertise this stuff anyway?? I'm a woman, I know what I need, I know where to find it when I need it, and I know which ones work for me. It's not like I'm sitting in front of the TV saying, "OMG!!! They make products for that???? I never knew!!!"

:lmao: :lmao:

Buy store brand.

I have issues with the makers of feminine hygenie products, I admit! :teeth: My poor DH has to deal with me yelling at the TV all the time. And I guarantee, I have never once went to the tampon aisle at Target and stood in thoughtful contemplation, debating the pros and cons of each product, I don't care how many commercials they make.

No-the worst one is the "I didn't know" commercial about HPV. My gyno told me that the risk of getting HPV that leads to cervical cancer increases exponentially with the amount of partners you have. Notice they don't mention that in the commercial!! God forbid we warn our young women about the risks of multiple partners! It's all about selling their vaccine, not about keeping women safe from disease. The vaccine may prevent HPV if given early enough, but there are plenty of other interesting diseases that it won't prevent-AND it won't prevent HPV or cancer if you get it AFTER you've been sexually active for a while. That's why they're trying to get the 12 and under girls to get it-which I'm in total agreement with.
Let's be honest with the young women in our lives about the risks of sexually promiscuous behavior so that they can truly make informed choices! How about putting that message in an ad?

I was diagnosed with cervical cancer when I was 21. I had not been sexually promiscuous, I had only had 1 partner. I had practiced "safe sex". I had gone in yearly for pap smears. I got HPV. I am not a skank. About 20 million Americans are estimated to have HPV & about 6 million people are expected to contract it this year.

Yes, we should better educate young people. I took sex ed in high school & I had no idea what HPV was.

I've never seen the Yasmin commercial but I'm glad I read about it here, or I'd think all of those women had been intimate with Carl Yastrzemski!

:lmao: I'm so glad I'm not alone in hating these commercials. DH & I have said many times, we need a follow up commercial to the ones we hate, served with a side of snark. Now that I think about it, that would make an awesome YouTube video. :teeth:

I agree with themarquis AND the utter annoyance of the ad. BUT

It is not as annoying as the woman who accosts other women in the grocery aisle and asks them if their pad ever gets "moist and uncomfortable".

OF COURSE IT DOES, DUMB***.
I could not agree more. I find it so stupid it is insulting.

I'm going to get seriously flamed, but chiropractors are just everyday people. ANYONE can be a chiropractor. I even got accepted into chiropractic school with an elementary ed degree. I doesn't matter what you got your undergrad in. I got into Life University which is the LARGEST school of chiropractic medicine which BTW went under review and lost its license a few years back. That doesn't do much for the thousands that graduated there considering the shady history of that school.

I am not flaming you at all..Just to clarify about chiro school, and I am not a chiropractor..but even though you got accepted to Life, doesn't mean you would get accepted to better schools. And just b/c 1 chiro school has troubles, doesn't mean they all are. Also, you would still have to do all your anatomy and physiology and bios and chems, or just tack it on to your time there. In another words, you would still have to complete the pre-reqs, you can just do them there instead of undergrad. And Chiro's are certainly just people, as are MD's and everyone else, but they do hold a doctorate degree.

7 years of school is something. Alhtough, besides CA, it is relative easy to be certified to practice in any given state, as compared to other 7 yr professionals, i.e. lawyers.

But As I posted earlier, the arrogance and sense of superiority is laughable..with ALL people!

:lmao: You are cracking me up so much I almost wet my pants! But that's a whole other commercial! ;)

I agree about the Yaz and other feminine product commercials. I always wondered if I was understanding the Yaz commercials because it's just so stupid.

here's another one that disturbs me (not feminine hygene related) -- that toilet paper ad with bears hanging out together while pooping in the woods! Am I the only one ....? I know it's just a "cute cartoon" but I guess the whole idea of having a feel-good time pooping together with a friend/family member who is dispensing tips on toilet paper use just weirds me out. **shudder**

I'm sorry to hear about what happened to you and I was not making accusations that everyone that gets HPV or cervical cancer is promiscuous. All I was trying to say was that there has been knowledge out there for YEARS about multiple partners increasing a woman's risk of getting HPV and cervical cancer, but most women heard nothing about it. Now a drug company had a vaccine to sell, and even though they are talking about HPV in the ad, they still aren't giving women the entire story. Every time I see that ad, it reminds me that for all the hard work women have done, the medical/pharmacutical/political community STILL promotes an agenda that puts our lives at risk.

I believe women should have ALL the information they need to make informed choices about their health. I'm a baby boomer and I've lived through the sexual revolution and the most frightening thing about it has been the trend to suppress any mention of negative consequences to sexual behavior. When we went through school, we didn't learn anything about HPV-we were told that there were diseases out there but that was it. 20 years later when my niece went through "sex ed" they told her even less!

So how hard up do you have to be a washed up actress doing commercials for Depends? "Yessirree! This will make hollywood stand up and notice me again."

I received this email this morning. It is VERY appropriate to this thread! :rotfl2:

>
>Dear Kotex:
>
>I recently noticed that the peel-off strip of my pantiliner had a bunch of "Kotex Tips for Life" on it.
>Annoying advice such as:
>
>Staying active during your period can relieve cramps.
>Avoiding caffeine may help reduce cramps and headaches.
>Drink 6-8 glasses of water a day to keep you hydrated and feeling fresh.
>Try Kotex blah blah blah other products...
>
>Obviously the individual behind this was someone who has never possessed a functioning set of ovaries. Go ahead and tell a menstruating woman that drinking 6-8 glasses of water will help keep her feeling fresh. Like we need more fluid inside our bloated bodies from hell...but go ahead...I triple-dog-friggen-dare-ya...See what happens and report back. I'll wait.
>
>While you're at it, dump out the coffee at work and remove the chocolate from the vending machine. I garan-friggen-tee that the first responders will be females who just ovulated.
>
>Staying active will relieve headaches & cramps...well guess what, the only activities that interests me is eating..sleeping..*****ing or crying for no apparent reason. ..and oh...does ripping someone's head off count as a friggen' activity?????
>
>Look, females don't need or want tips for living on their feminine hygiene products. Younger girls are already hearing "helpful" crap like that from elderly relatives. Veteran females have already concocted their own recipes for survival, many containing alcohol & barbituates.
>
>Printing out crap advice while sneaking in ads for the brand that was already purchased is just plain annoying, not to mention rude, and is enough to send a girl running to the Always brand.
>
>It's not a fun time, but DO NOT try to cheer us up by adding smiley faces or bunnies or flowery cutesy crap to your products or the packaging. Put the crap in a plain brown wrapper so we can throw it in our carts discreetly and have it blend in among the wine and beer.
>
>There is nothing more annoying than having a blinding pink package announcing your uterine state to everyone in the store. Why don't ya just add an in-store microphone to the damn package & announce that...helloooo, another female in the store is on the rag!!!!!
>
>So take your tips for living and your cute bunnies & the smiley faces and shove them right up your @$$.
>
>PS How about adding a free sample of Pamprin & maybe a shot of Bourbon to your packages instead!!!
>

omg, that is great. I'm emailing it to all my girlfriends.

That's too funny! But I have to add that Always is the brand that wants us to "Have a happy period."

:rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2:

I thought you were doing ok if you weren't biting anyone heads off. :teeth:

hey maybe thats why they came up with head on, too reattach it. :rotfl:

I have to admit I've never noticed any of these "tips" on any of my feminine hygiene products.

It must be my second EVIL personality dealing with that time of the month & I have no memory of it.

So let's sum up:

Kotex: annoying tips for life on their liner strips

Always: wants us to have a happy period

Stayfree: creepy woman who wants to know if you feel moist and sticky

We're running out of options here!!!

So take your tips for living and your cute bunnies & the smiley faces and shove them right up your @$$.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

That is the most hysterical rant I have read in a LONG time. Thank you for brightening up my rainy Friday!
