#1 Vent:

I pay $103.18 p/month for digital cable/remote/box and internet service including all taxes. Supposedly this is discounted since I have a digital phone pkg as well (billed separately for).

My phone service charge is $26.95 p/month + .07 a minute for any long distance calls.

I was inquiring at Comcast's office how to save a little money and if I drop down to just basic cable, no digital, they'll up my internet by $7.00 a month! Where was the discount in the first place? Digital isn't worth paying for, the channels go and in and out and take forever to switch back.

#2 Just got off the phone with Comcast about the phone bill and was told that since my name doesn't appear on the bill, they can't speak to me. It was ME who set up the account! They told me "I can call your husband for you and ask to put you on the account" and my reply to that was "honey, if you can actually reach him on a construction site then please tell him to pick up chinese for dinner".

UGGG!!! I know it wasn't the customer service rep's fault at all and she had a good laugh about what I said, but really...I need to shop around.

I still want my broadband internet, but I think I should try to price these 3 things individually? (cable, internet, phone)

Who are you happy with?

thanks for letting me vent!

whoops? can this be moved to the community board? this is just disney budgeting on this thread? sorry.

I feel your pain!

We have Comcast for our cable and Internet and we have EVERYTHING so our monthly bill is $145 with NO phone! That's our choice to have every channel available!

Anyway, I just wanted to touch on the phone with you. We just switched from Verizon to IDT. IDT has a package where it includes everything: local, long distance and everything in between plus: 3 way calling, caller ID, and call waiting all for $39.95 plus tax so with tax it is $54. but that is our bill EVERY month no matter who we call. It's great! We can call down to Disney for PS and not worry about how long the call is. I can talk as long as I want with my long distance family in NY and PA.

We are very happy we made the change.

Good luck deciding!

I don't know how to help with Comcast since I've got Time Warner (I've got my own beefs with them), but I do know you can get a better deal on the digital phone with Vonage than Comcast. For $27 you can get unlimited local and 500 minutes of long distance on Vonage. Anything over 500 on ld is billed at 4 cents a minute. I have this service and love it! Dropped my phone bill from $80-$90 a month to $27.

my reply to that was "honey, if you can actually reach him on a construction site then please tell him to pick up chinese for dinner".

BTW, I hate Comcast too. Sadly, it's the only option available here.

I had the same problem with Comcast. I set up the account and they wouldn't let me change it without my husband's permission.

I was beyonds p****ed off.

I hate Comcast too. We had them when we were first together in 2000-2001 and we had to call them every month about a problem with our bill. We ended up canceling our service with them and going without cable modem and cable for a couple of months because we hated them so much. We then went on to Direct TV and loved them but we still had dial up. Direct TV was great. There was never a discrepency on our bill and the service and picture was great.

We recently moved into a rental house and we now have Wide Open West and we love them too. They are always so helpful when we call them and we only pay 75 bucks a month for a higher than normal cable modem speed and basic cable with movie channels.

I would love around and compare prices in your area. I dispise Comcast the most and I will never ever use them again!

check out directv.com

only 1/3rd of all states charge tax with us.

24 hour customer service, thats won the best customer service award for past to 2 years running now.

any questions pm me. i've been with the company as a customer, tech, or phone rep ( currently) since spring 94.

and for local channels, were expecting a 90% local coverage by football season.

were fully digital ( thats how we get it to your house), and with a digital provider ( anything will work) your set up for the hd switch over scheduled for jan 2007.

I have an unusual device on the top of my house. It's a television antenna. It allows me to watch HDTV. No monthly fee either.:p

I had the same problem with Disney Visa REwards dollars. I was the one who applied for the Disney Visa (although I applied in my DH's name since he makes more money than I do). My name is on one of the cards though. I am the one who uses the card - my DH has never touched his Disney Visa let alone use it for a purchase! If he evers has to purchase something (besides lunch at Burger King or something where he would use cash), which is rare, he would use our check card. Also, I make the payments on the card. None of this did Disney Visa have a problem with. They gladly accepted checks with my name on it.

While I was standing at Downtown Disney on a payphone trying to transfer our rewards dollars to our Reward card, the lady wouldn't transfer the dollars for me. She had to get "approval" from my husband. So, I handed him the phone, she asked him if he approved of this and then he handed it back to me. You should have seen the smug look on my DH's face!

So, anyway, this is a common practice throughout the industry and isn't just Comcast.

Not a fan of Comcast either. I found their internet service to be very spotty.

We finally got fed up with comcast last February. After years of being charged for Pay Per View we never ordered. All adult??? WE dropped them and went with Direct TV. We have had no problems. Reception is Perfect better than digital cable, no billing problems, and best of all we only pay 78.00 a month. WE had them for phone service also and dropped that to. Went with our local Verizon and got DSL with them only 75.00 a month for phone and DSL. Look aroung find the best in your area.
