I had the most interesting experience at the grocery store tonight

You know those grocery store vents that pop up every once in awhile? Well, my trip to the store today was like all of those rolled into one.

First of all, there aren't enough cashiers, so each line has about 4 or 5 customers in it...all with full carts. 2 customers in front of me was yapping away on her cell phone during the entire transaction (her cell btw looked like it came straight out of 1995...the thing was huge). Because of that, she was unloading her cart really really slowly. And she wasn't paying attention to what was going on, so her son kept pulling candy and magazines off the shelves and putting them in her cart. Better her than me. ;)

Then when she was done, the customer in front of me decided to have an in-depth conversation with the cashier. The cashier was slow as it was. This almost made me die of old age.

When I finally get up to the counter, the cashier leaves and is replaced by an even slower cashier. I had almost read an entire magazine by then. The bagger leaves, so I have to bag my own groceries. Reading posts here, I know people are annoyed when the customer doesn't take the initiative to do their own bagging. In case there were any DISers in line behind me just waiting to post about the rude customer in front of them, I bagged my first groceries ever.

Then since we were in line so long, dd couldn't hold it any longer and peed on the floor.

And this is why I dread to go grocery shopping. Sorry you had such a bad experience.

I just got home from the grocery store too. Thankfully I didn't need a whole lot so I went to the self scanner! It is so nice not to have to wait for cashiers and people to interact...you just do your own so if your slow it's your own fault.

I absolutely HATE the grocery store which is now why I have started going LATE at night...around 10 or so because the store is usually empty except maybe on weekends with kids getting the "munchies" from a certain herb :rotfl:

Sorry you had to deal with that....I think the grocery store and costco are the worlds worst!

auggggghhhhhh

bagging doesn't bother me - do it all the time -
but the poor kid and the pee thing

HA!! That's funny, especially about your daughter!!

I've had two "incidents" this past week. Last Sunday I was in the grocery store and there were only two lines open and no express lines. I had a very large order and a woman came up behind me with one of those carrying things and she had about 10 items in it. I said "why don't you go ahead of me, I have a large order." She thanked me and proceeded to put her stuff up and separate it three ways. SHE HAD THREE DIFFERENT ORDERS SHE WAS RINGING UP! One she paid by check for the first order the others were paid separately with a credit card. :confused3

Two days later, I am again in another grocery store (because you know not ONE grocery store will have everything you need). Again, hardly any cashiers and I've got a big order. A guy comes up behind me with two items in a carry basket. I said to him "Why don't you go ahead of me?" He says "Oh, no I couldn't." I say "Please, I have such a large order and I hate to see you wait." So he thanks me. As he gets in front of me I smile and say quietly to him "But you better not doing anything FUNNY at the register!" He was quite taken aback and I said "Hey, it's a joke!" He laughs, gets up to the register, and proceeds to tell the cashier that he would like to get a roll of quarters and a roll of dimes from her. I think she saw my glare and told him that he would have to do that at Customer Service. THANK GOD!! What is with people? :)

But what I want to know is, did you put the divider bar after your groceries? :teeth:

Oops, I forgot to mention that. The customer in front of me did it for me. And I put the divider behind my groceries for the customer after me. And I thought of that thread the entire time. :rotfl:
