After a very long time, I finally had a teaching interview for what I would consider an ideal position in a suburban district not far from my house...

The principal asked relevant questions, looked at every page of my portfolio, asked questions about the material and asked me extensively about my urban school experience.

I felt that the principal even researched me-- asking me relevant questions about my schooling.

I asked him questions regarding a specific program I saw on the schools website and he was impressed (even said under his breath--"great question!")

The language arts supervisor also asked me specific questions regarding my experience...

I felt it went well.. but it is so hard to gauge.

Please think positive thoughts for me!

Sounds like a great interview! Good luck!

Congratulations!

Teaching jobs can be difficult to get and the interviews can be nerve wracking.

My DD graduated in Dec and was lucky to find two long-term sub jobs that lasted until the end of the year. She had a few interviews for next school year and got a call a few weeks ago offering her the position. The school board approved it earlier this week and on Thursday she goes to meet the staff and have an all day meeting.

She's nervous but excited.

I'll be sending good wishes your way. I hope that you get the call soon!

:goodvibes

Yay! I know how long you've been trying to get a teaching job. :yay: Sound good. They obviously spent a good deal of time with you, asking so many questions. Good luck!

I'm hoping! They had interviews every 1/2 hour and the next interview was there waiting when I left.

I showed up with my portfolio, a small mini book of lessons and a notepad. This next candidate had nothing but a notepad.

I wore a suit with a skirt and hose.. this next candidate had a pantsuit and no hose.

I made it a point to take to the attendance aide while I was waiting for the principal in order to gauge the school environment. She said she loved it there, the administrators were fantastic and very approachable. The few teachers that walked by me (I was in a small hallway) all said hello and one said "good luck!"

What grade is the position for?
