I had a $$Making idea... Would you use this service?

Obviously I could only have the # of children you can have at one time without being licensed- last I knew it I think it was no more than 5, counting your own children. I would/will have to look into the current laws. It would also NOT be anything that I advertised, I would only do it for people that I know. Frankly, I don't want to watch the child of someone that I do not know anymore than someone would want to take their child to a stranger. I would claim the $$ on my taxes- as most people want to claim the childcare deduction. I have worked in childcare both as a private babysitter and in a preschool setting. As far as the neighbors not liking it- as long as I'm not breaking any laws- tough cookies! They're all at work anyway.

Thanks so much for your input!

I think it is a great idea! I work in unemployment for our state. Quite often I hear about someone who lost their regular sitter and did not have back up. They were already in trouble with their employer for attendance and this pushed them over. Yes I would pay.

I think it's a great idea.
As far as daycare costs go, it's about the same here in Richmond as it is in Dallas if you want a regular daycare center. You can, of course, find people who watch children in their own homes for less (Roger and I are lucky-his sister watches the kids for us and we pay her $50/week for both of them.)

I think it is a great idea. There are services similar to that in the malls around here. They offer child care by the hour with a 4 hour maximum.

I think it sounds like a great idea!!!

I think it's a good idea to limit it to people you know, and limit the # of kids.

I also think it's a good idea to claim it on taxes , as you said you were going to, and to research the daycare laws for your state, so you don't unknowingly break any. You don't want to end up with any difficulty later.

I don't have kids, but it would seem to me that a service that would allow a parent to have a couple of child-free hours to run errands or grocery shop or whatever, where they were confident that their child was in good hands, would be very popular.

The only thing I might change is the morning time. I think I' do 9-11 instead of 930-1130. 1130 is getting a little too close to lunch and you might end up getting phone calls saying "I got tied up at the market, could you feed Junior since it's lunchtime?" Just a thought.

Good luck (and ignore your husband!!!!!)
