$10 last September. I bought mine the first night, and it was highly durable. So much so that we gave it to a little boy when we were leaving. I hated throwing away good money!

how do you 'carefully deflate' balloons?

SIL bought one once and it was a bad experience. The tank was half empty when she bought it (figured someone must have used and returned it), but the wmart CSM wouldn't refund her money, believing she had used the helium.

I have bought the disposable tanks several times and never had a problem, other than the helium does not last very long once in the balloon. And if we are talking about the same disposable helium tanks and if I recall correctly, I don't think somebody could have used it and returned since there's no way to reseal the box (you have to tear a strip of the box to open it, like a box of laundry detergent).

Mylar ballons can hold the helium for about a week before deflating.
latex balloons can loose their helium in about 12hrs or so, and be hanging by the ground in 24hrs.
Now since Disney puts a clear mylar over the latex, it holds it up for about a week as well.

to deflate the mickey/minnie mylar, carefully untie or cut the string. Then place a straw through the hole and slowly deflate it. If you do it this way, you'll be able to reinflate it whenever you'd like. You can even take it to a Party City and they'll do it for like 50cents.

the mickey head balloons, there's nothing really you can do besides put a hole in the bottom and let it slowly leak out. Even if you let it deflate on its own, I don't think it's possible to reinflate it.

I just wanted to chime in to say that we bought one of those balloons on December 23rd. Since we drove, we were able to bring it back home. Much to our surprise it is still has air in it!!! Just this week, it began touching the floor but its still in an upright position. So, while they may be expensive, they sure last a long time!
