I got to see Space Mountain with the lights on!

I saw it too. IT looks like a huge erector set. It was pretty neat. When we got back to the TTA station the Cast Member let us stay on and we got to see it again. Sometimes the TTA stops because of a malfunction and we were hoping it'd stop there but it didn't.
Here's a cool thing that i discovered last December. There's a spiral galaxy being projected on the ceiling and it is regualarly white but it was red and green when i rode it and this was around Christmas time. Pretty neat huh!?

Last May the ride broke down just as we were toward the end. The lights came on and we were stuck there for awhile. Interesting perspective but thank goodness it was toward the end or my sister would have panicked for sure! The CMs had to come out and push our car to the exit.

Oh my god!

I just watched the link that leads to the video of Disneyland's SM with the lights on.

It just looks like a regular rollercoaster -- but watching it made me feel strange, and it really freaked me out to think that I was watching Space Mountain.

I think that SM should stay at its best - in the dark.

Sounds strange, but I don't know why it's really freaked me for some reason!!!

Carene-That makes me chuckle because I was too chicken to ride UNTIL I saw the video with the lights on. LOL! After I saw it, I thought...this doesn't look bad at all! I rode it and now I love it!

that video is insane! i had no idea how flimsy the ride tracks look... might make me think twice before i ride next time!

During an annual passholders party in Disneyland in 1996, Everybody got to ride space mountain with the lights on, we also got to WALK thru rides like snow white, roger rabbit, and other rides. It was great.

My parents and I got to see Space Mountain with its lights on the first time we rode the Tomorrowland Transit Authority back in June (June 1, 2002 to be exact). It was neat, and I got some pretty bad still pics of the structure. We went back a second time later in the day to get some camera footage of the track, but Space Mountain was already up and running with its lights off, so we couldn't get the footage we needed. I guess we arrived too late. lol. Oh well, there's always next time.

Cool photo. Thanks zakatak! I saw the inside of SM a looong time ago but don't remember it that well. Obviously, a big part of the attraction is riding the thing in the dark.

Have seen this quite a few times. I would really like to be in spaceship earth when the lights go on and then have to walk down those what appear to be millions of stairs on the sides of the ride vehicles. This ever happen to anyone?

While I am with you and would love to see the lit inside of Space Station Earth, I think I would only be wiling to exit via an elevator.

What would they do with wheelchair bound individuals?

According to the Guidebook for Guests with Disabilities, for Space Mountain:
"Guests must maneuver across catwalks and down a series of ladders or wait until they can be evacuated."
That isn't very much information, but it is not a ride I am anxious to take my DD on. That "wait to be evacuated" would be really hard to take if it was long. I'm not sure how they would evacuate, but that doesn't sound easy.
