So yesterday I took off work to try to ride Nemo and my goal was achieved! The park opened at 9am and I was boarding Nemo by 9:21am. We got there early but we were way behind all the people in front of the rope on Main Street. Our strategy...we sent my friends 12 year old to the line. That boy ran like the wind and then we joined him. Tons of people did that. They sent all their runners out as soon as the rope dropped! FYI: Don't go through Tommowland to get to Nemo go the other way.

Oh yeah :rotfl:

It was such a cute ride! I really wasn't expecting it to be the way it was. I don't want to give anything away but it's nothing like the old ride. The ride is about 15 minutes so if you wait long in line at least it's not a 5 minute ride. The only thing that I didn't really like is that those subs are tiny! Please be courtesy to the other passengers. Someone farted in our sub and it was horrible!!!! :scared1:

I feel better.. I know it wasn't my DBF that farted in the sub.. I know he was at work..

He can clear an entire savannah just like Pumba...

Glad you liked the ride. My kids got to go on the preview. We are going on the 24th...

Thanks for the tip... Is it better to go thru the castle thru FL or head to the right of the castle and around the matterhorn?

BTW, what time did you get to the gates??

It's better to go behind the Matterhorn. It leads you right into the line. We were on Main Street at 8:30 and it was packed. So I would think to get even remotely near the rope you probably need to be on Main Street by like 8:15.

Is this new - are they scanning peoples tickets prior to official opening and letting them queue up on Main Street? When I have been at DL, the time things open, is when they start scanning people's tickets. Is this a new process or something I have just missed - thanks.

This is the first time I ever made it to the rope drop but I had heard they usually let people wait on Main Street before the park officially opened.

Thanks! :thumbsup2 I am planning on being at the gates at 8:00, so hopefully we can get close to the front...

Someone farted in ours too! I think it was the person sitting next to me! lol!

We went today, arrived at 3:00 and made it onto the ride at about 4:00, so it wasn't bad at all. The lines are set up so that people can bring strollers in line with them for little ones, which was really nice. DD stayed in her stroller with the sun shade on and we had our portable DVD player, which kept her entertained in line. It was well worth it!

Awwwww thats aweful about all those smelly people. If they keep that up, no one will find nemo, hes gonna stay hiding until the smell goes away.

I didnt realize that those subs were tiny. I've never ridden it, but thats cool you got to. When I was there they were only having the celebrity viewing and the CM viewings and for the CM reviews the lines were over 6 hours long. It was insane.

Okay, for those who want to know, there are days when DL opens the front gates early and lets in a fair number of people to the rope drop area. It doesn't happen every day and if you are not there early enough you would not be allowed into the park until gate opening. I've been in during rope drop and its awesome. You can pretty much go on quite a few rides before the first hour is up this way. . .

:wizard: Wow thanks for the great information, my sister and I are walking the DL half marathon in September an are staying for a couple days afterward for DL & Sister FUN!

Is this true? Every day we were that two years ago May, there was a rope drop. It would make it quite different if they didn't do that when we go. So, if the above statement is true and sometimes we don't get the "rope drop" what days do they do it, is there a pattern? :confused3

I have read lots of info on rope drop, including:

If DL opens at 9 or later, they let guests onto Main Street 30 minutes early for rope drop.

During EE mornings, they let regular entry guests on Main Street 30 minutes early and only let EE guests past the rope.

If it is not EE, and the park opens at 8 am, then there is no rope drop, just ceremonial opening at the front gates.

For rope drop, the stores are open on Main Street. No rides are available. However, the First 50 Magical Years may be open during this time.

HTH!

Thanks! This makes total sense as we went in May when the park opened at 10, so we always got that rope drop. It was a nice way to start the day, you could see a few of the characters before running off to rides/rope drop. :cool1:

Ahhh- so you were some of the ones who pushed their way ahead of my DH and DD- we were in the front of the line at rope drop on Fri and followed the CM's directions around the Matterhorn... and ended up being shoved into the queue at the 2 hr mark. :( Not fair for those of us who got up early and made it to the ropes at 8:20 and stood there for 40 minutes :(

Sorry- I just wasn't happy with the way they handled it. I'm glad you got to ride and enjoyed it.

I agree with Kelsey'sMom.

I had responded to the op's post & thought that there would be more comments due to the fact that:

- They sent their 12 y/o to RUN following a rope drop.

- One kid saved a place for "the family".

I'm glad i won't have to deal with Nemo till next year.

hound :rolleyes1
