Congratulations, Dizneydaz - that is a great prize and I am so happy for you (my fellow PhotoPass-loving friend!!)! I see DLR is getting wise and realizing that, although $100 in Disney money would be golden at the parks, in this horrible economy, $100 REGULAR money is even more valuable at this point in time! That was smart of them to do. People need money these days, and it is nice to have the option of whether or not to spend it at DLR or at Ralphs or something!!
Just call me Miss 'Near Miss' when it comes to surveys! Someone 'up there' does not want me to get $100 or a $100 Disney gift card. Let me recap for you:
- September 2007. My friends and I went to DLR mainly on MY dime. It was raining heavily. I was miserable. I was standing outside of the bathroom at the entrance to DCA, waiting for my friends to come out. I was all by myself, standing for several minutes. No one approached me. As soon as one of my friends emerged from the bathroom, a Disney survey person darted out from behind something and approached her to take a survey "at home." The CM got my friend's info and someone called her at home a few weeks later to ask about her stay at DLR. I am not sure if they gave my friend any perks for doing the survey or not, but if so, she didn't tell me. If she did get anything, she probably felt guilty because I treated her to the trip!
- December 2007. My friend and I were strolling through DCA and an older CM came up to BOTH of us and asked if we would be willing to give our e-mail addresses to take a survey. We both agreed and gave our e-mail addresses, which he keyed in. We never received the e-mail survey at all. Or at least I didn't.
- October 2008. We were entering DL - again, another trip largely funded by yours truly. I had JUST gotten my first AP the night before. My friend had a 3-day Hopper. We went in through 2 different turnstiles for some reason. As soon as she walked through HER turnstile, a CM doing a survey ran right up to her and asked what her zip code was and what kind of ticket she had. Actually I think they asked about the ticket FIRST, and THEN after they saw the Hopper they asked what her zip code was. They said she didn't qualify after that. No one asked ME, so I don't know if I would have qualified or not. Now, my friend lives IN Anaheim, so I don't know if they were excluding her because she was an Anaheim resident, or if it was because she was a SoCal resident or what, but she ALMOST got to take the survey that was, I think, rewarding guests for their time with a $100 gift card. Sorry. Maybe I am a petty, horrible person, but I would have been TICKED OFF if my friend had gotten the gift card when I funded the trip!!! So, it sounds horrible, but I was glad she was turned down.

Better neither of us gets it than just one of us. (And, no, in case you are wondering, she would not have split it 50/50 with me.)
- October 2008 again. We were at the Trick or Treat Party. My friend went into the restroom, and I sat outside, chatting with a guy on the bench who was showing me his pictures of the person in the wheelchair decked out as a Doom Buggy. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, a CM emerges from the dark with a clipboard thing and the scanning device, and asks if I would be willing to take a survey about the Trick or Treat Party. Well, H*** yeah, I would! But they were not doing the survey right then. They were getting e-mail addresses and sending the survey out that way. So I received mine via e-mail several weeks later, and I filled it out, but there was no perk for doing it.
- December 2008. I was alone in
Disneyland for a few golden hours on a Sunday night. My friends had gone home. It was probably around 9:45 p.m. or 10:00 p.m., and I was just getting ready to head back to my PPH room, but stopped by the Christmas tree and and that whole Plaza area for a last minute look-around. I was taking a picture of a shop sign or something, and I could see a CM with a survey thingy making a beeline for me out of the corner of my eye. Yes! This would finally be my time to win something! She said she had a dining survey for me, and asked me if I had eaten at any of the restaurants in the park THAT DAY ONLY. Well, wouldn't you know that our IN-PARK dining had been the day before!!!! Arrrrrgggghhhhhh! On this day, Sunday, we had only eaten at Goofy's Kitchen - which is not IN THE PARK! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I couldn't participate!

Drat! Foiled again! @#$%^&*+!!!!
- Finally, January 2009. I received a postcard from the Paradise Pier Hotel in the mail. Not e-mail, but regular old mail. It said that a select group of people who had recently stayed at the PPH had been chosen to participate in a survey about the PPH, and if I was willing, then I had to go to a certain website and enter the password they chose for me. So I did. I took the survey and gave detailed responses about my PPH stay.....and there were no rewards for doing it.
So I guess the moral of the story is to just take any and all surveys that Disney sends via e-mail or snail mail, and take
any surveys you qualify for when approached by a CM with a scanning device in hand or a clipboard thingy, no matter how long they take, because you just never know what may come of it. I know some folks didn't want to take the one that would have gotten them a $100 gift card because they didn't want to take two hours to do the survey at the DLH. But I would have been ALL OVER THAT $100 gift card if I had been aproached to do it and had met the qualifications. Two hours spent would have been waaaaay worth it to me to get $100 dollars in Disney money.
