I get so revved up before a show! Dis-knee,if you read this, you know what I mean! The day before a show is just as much a part of the whole show "thing". There's the whole grooming ritual. My dog will be the center of attention for about 10 minutes, she's gotta look spiffy! Let's not forget the backpack with all things dog in it: extra collars, leashes of all lengths(don't forget the flexi!),toys, baitbag with imported ham(hey, whatever works!)and don't forget the poop-bags(...and matches if neccessary) and MOST important, handiwipes!!!!!!

airhead(finish!!!!)

I show bassets, so there's not a lot of primping to be done, just the bag to be packed. I usually don't have the jitters until just before we go in the ring. Forget butterflies, I have elephants in my stomach at that point. But once we're in there, I'm fine. I concentrate on Charlie or Matilda and forget the people who are watching.

Charlie needs one more point to finish, which I hope will be at Worcester in a couple of weeks. Then I can concentrate on Tilly.

I don't have the patience for obedience, but a friend of mine does OB with her basset, God bless her ;) . Elephants in my stomach or not, I love dog shows!

I know this sounds strange to most of you, but we show chickens-purebreed poultry. It's the same ritual. A bath and powder one week before show, then again two days before. Gotta put some blueing in the rinse water to get them sparkling! Toe nails to be clipped, vaseline or vetRx on the comb, wattles and legs (if they're not feather-legged). If they ARE feather legged then that means at least one more bath, those feathered feet are a pain to keep clean and pretty. Oh, the things we do to take "Best of Show"!

MinnieMe2...what's coming up in Worcester and when?? I'd love to check it out. I just haven't been following the where's and when's of the show for a bit. Thanks.

and I had to look at those birds......they are something else indeed....the first one is just gorgeous.....I cannot believe that chickens and such are that beautiful.......we get our eggs from a lady and she has free range chickens...good eggs

Goofy4tink,

Here's a link to Infodog. Click on 'Judging List' to the left and what you'll get is the catalog for the show.....

Good luck, airhead. I hope your pup does very well in the show.
