agreed! I just can't believe these ppl are so out of touch with this sort of thing that it :gasp: surprises them when people make these comments. I remember on PCC 1.0 Lee said he was going to look into this because he wasn't aware(remember he has retired) but would bring an answer back. I don't think anyone got the chance to ask him publicly about it though.

I would bet there is a certain profit threshold that the merchandise has to achieve, and the only way to acheive that is with mass produced items.

Just stopped into the Poly for lunch at Kona grill this weekend and saw some resort specific merchandise there. Also at CBR I saw a few pictures they were selling of the report.

I wish they would decrease the amount of stuff they had with the year on it. Maybe decrease that and increase the thickness of the shirts!!!!!

MINI RANT - MAKE SHIRTS YOU CANNOT SEE THROUGH!!!:surfweb::surfweb:

I hated seeing World of Disney overrun with IMO "tacky generic" looking 2011 shirts. :(

I have seen resort specific items at DVC resorts ( Saratoga/AKL). I'll see about Boardwalk in March.

I hope all the letters make a difference.

Isn't that the "in" thing with all the princesses?

CONTINUATION of RANT - Sure you can put a tank under the shirt that you can see through. In the middle of August that's the last thing I want to do....add another layer to the sticky clothes that are stuck on me.

:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Problem is.....we are the minority. The majority of people going to WDW are perfectly happy with the $18.99 tacky 2011 shirt they know they aren't going to wear all that much.

I splurged on a $35 embroidered t-shirt at the Contemporary's gift shop in November. It's really nice quality, with a nice design. To me, totally worth it. Most people aren't willing to spend that much though, so they keep cranking out the cheap stuff.

I just saw a photo of the gift shop on the disney dream, and the shirts all said Disney Cruise line.

I was so sad. I want one that says Disney Dream.

yeah I have a Disney Magic shirt and on PCC 2.0 I specifically wanted a Disney Wonder Tshirt. They did not offer them until the last day, but that might be because the itinerary was on there so they had limited quantities given the change that was coming.

I can't imagine there will be nothing with Disney Dream on it. I will NOT be a happy camper if that is the case come March when I am on it.

Okay, I got a follow up email. Here it is:
Good Afternoon Chad,

I am writing to you on behalf of the e-mail you sent to Tom Staggs, Al Weiss, and Meg Crofton and am following up on their behalf.

I would appreciate the opportunity to talk with you about your recent visit to our Walt Disney World Resort and the concerns you have regarding availability of merchandise at the marathon and throughout our Parks & Resorts.

Can you please let me know if ***-***-**** is a good number to reach you and if there is a certain time tomorrow afternoon or later this week that is convenient for me to call you?

I look forward to speaking with you soon. And by the way, CONGRATULATIONS on participating in the marathon!

Warmest Regards,

Debbie Bellavia
Director, Guest Services
Walt Disney World

After the discussion, I will try to record a voicemail for the next email show if there is anything groundbreaking that comes out of it.

wouldn't it be creepy if they are reading this thread?

I'm sure they are.

Wouldn't you be? Or at least have one of your employees keep up on it?

That's just good business.

I agree..I'm sure they have CM that read all the boards..not just the DIS

I agree with everything that has been related on this thread. I stayed at the Boardwalk DVC Villas prior to PCC 2.0 and they only had generic DVC shirts in the gift shop. We also own at the Grand Californian DVC and they carry only generic DVC merchandise - and very little of it.

What is really disturbing is that I've seen a couple of Disneyland merchandise items with Figment pictured among the group of Disney characters. Now Figment is one of my favorite Disney characters, but what is he doing on Disneyland merchandise?

I was at Acorn Gifts and Goods no more than a week ago. They have an ENTIRE back wall of that store dedicated to Grand Californian Resort merchandise. There are t-shirts, jackets, sweatshirts, robes, pajamas, towels, throws, and house decor. While none of it is specifically "Villas at the Grand Californian", really, you can't accuse that store of not having resort specific merchandise. In fact, all THREE DLR hotels carry a broad selection of merchandise with the resort logos on it, UNLIKE at the WDW resorts. That disturbs me! Why are things so radically different on both coasts? Doesn't make sense to me.

Thank you for letting us know about the availablity of Grand Californian merchandise, but I was referring specifically to the Grand Californian DVC merchandise. It wasn't all that long ago that all the DVC resorts had their own merchandise. The Grand Californian DVC Villas never had a lot and they only get small supplies of the DVC member pins.

I do agree with you that Disneyland is much better at having resort-specific merchandise and even land and attraction-specific merchandise than Walt Disney World. I see much less "Disney Parks" logo merchandise at DL than I do at WDW.

Disneyland even did away with the generic "What Will You Celebrate?" Disney Parks decorations fairly early in that promotion and designed Disneyland-specific decorations.
