I got a pin code!! Better than free dining?

I just checked my email and had a pin code offer from Disney Destinations for 40% off Deluxe hotels. According to the email it said I had been in the My Disney Vacation part of the Disney website. It said since I was still looking for accomodations, here is a pin. Well, I already have a reservation for next August, so I'm not sure why it told me that. Anyway, i decided to call. The CM sees that I already have a reservation so I figure "oh great they will probably tell me I can't take the offer." But, she applied it and I got $1397.25 off the hotel room. I am so excited!! I was never able to take advantage of an offer like that before. I had been hoping for free dining but I'm thinking that this offer is probably better than free dining. Would you all agree that the pin code is a better deal than free dining? I was only going to do free dining if it was free, otherwise just room only.

For a deluxe, the pin code is usually a better deal. For a value, free dining might be better. 40% off a $400 room is $160 off, 40% off a $100 room is only $40. It also depends on how many people you have. If you have 4 adults (considering 10 and over is adult), the dining plan would be worth over $160.

It was probably better than free dining in your situation, depending on who you are going with and how long you are staying. A family of 2 adults and 1 kid who is 10+ may pay more than $1,400 for the dining plan if they are staying for 10 nights and paying "peak" dining plan prices. Over $200 more if that $48/pp/day does not include tax. I'm not sure if it does or not, anyone know?

I am traveling with my husband and 2 children under the age of 10. The way I figure it, this pin code is a better deal than free dining would be. I think the pin code saves me about $200 more than free dining would. Then, if I add in what I can save by buying tickets through undercover tourist than through Disney and that adds to the savings.

The PIN code IS better than free dining, for a Deluxe - no doubt about that. When it's a Value, free dining would be ok if it was the standard FD instead of QS FD. Since we're AP holders, FD is NEVER better than a PIN code, period! This only applies to my family Me, DW and DD4 (soon to be 5 in 4 days).

For us, Free Dining is actually better since we are 5 adults. Or at least adults as Disney defines it. But in most cases, the PIN is better. The PIN is something you can count on, whereas unless you had a bounceback, Free Dining won't be released for some time and is not a guarantee.

When I've done the math, 40% off is equal to or better than free dining for most of the deluxes, with AKL and WL being the exceptions. This is comparing late August prices which is value rates. Any time of year where room rates are higher would make the 40% off even better.
