I go to Disneyworld because...

  • I like the Disney characters

  • I like the atmosphere Disney provides, but not a huge fan of the characters

  • I go for both atmosphere and the characters

  • Disneyworld stinks, how did I get to this message board?

I go for the magic. When I was a child, my parents took me several times. Now, I'm passing the magic down to my daughter - which is magic to me as I re-live Disney through her eyes.

In today's world of violence, drugs and so many other unpleasant things, we all need the reassurance that Disney World creates - the magic of dreams & wishes.

I love WDW because it I'm a kid again. I now get to experience WDW in a whole new way, through my DD. She went on her first trip earlier this month. I'll never forget how excited she was to see the characters, how she waved at the kids in the pool at POP. She won't remember this trip but I sure will!

WDW truly is the happiest place on earth.

I love going to Disney World because it's the only place in the world that can make me cry tears of happiness. It's my home away from home, my laughing place! :yay:

It's cheaper than therapy and has better memories :teeth:

:rotfl2: :lmao:

As my best friend says, "Embrace your issues. They'll be with you for the rest of your life."

I go because even though everyone I know says I'm a cynic, deep down I still believe in magic.

I admit, I like both the characters and the atmosphere, but the atmosphere is the biggest reason why I go. I just like to go to get away from reality.

I totally agree with the comment that it is cheaper than therapy :teeth:

It really is a big pick me up to go there ::yes::

We go for the Magic. :wizard: We love it all - the atmosphere, the characters, the escape from reality!

DH and I go because it's our escape. It's the only place in the world where we go and truly forget about the "real world" for a few days. Anyway place that allows us to do that is worth it's weight in gold as far as I'm concerned :Pinkbounc

I lost my DH to cancer in 2003 & there's no other place on earth my kids & I can go to have a magical time together. I think it brings us closer together & let's us enjoy each other's company in a very special way. The characters & atmosphere allow us to have a fantastic time each time we're there. Even my oldest DS likes to spend time with us & doesn't feel the need to go off on his own. Can't wait to return in April! :wizard:

Escapism. The atmosphere, being a princess, seeing characters come to life, and feeling connected to it all.

I always laugh because I am into hiking and what the natural world has to offer, and then Disney has to be the most constructed and "artificial" experience on the planet. But both realms are equally magical and imaginative.

as many have stated, pure escapism...

extended family resonsibilites/issues manage to reach me even @ the world but, don't seem to concern me as much...few check-in calls a day & I'm free...
it's my laughing place:banana:

Definitely both. We don't do the character meals but it's sort of neat to walk around and see these icons walking around (yeah, yeah.... so they're just CM's in costumes... but still I totally feel like I'm getting to relive my childhood everytime we go through MK.)

We love going to WDW because Disney really has the whole package in one place -- the parks, the restaurants, the water parks, Downtown Disney/PI, golfing, etc... .

It makes us HAPPY!!!! We forget everything else & go & have fun. The fireworks,
food, rides, & shopping (for me). It's the happiest place on earth-why would you
want to be any place else. My DH, 2 DS's & I are going in April. My DS who will
be 18 asked this for his high school graduation gift. I have him hooked. Then my
husband & I are planning to go in 3 years for our 25th wedding anniversary. Our
first trip without kids!! I'm not sure how I'll feel about that but god willing we will
do it!!!! :cool1: :cool1:

DH and I love WDW! It's funny because our friends and family pick on us because we don't have kids yet and still continue to plan trips. The usual remark when we tell people we are going to WDW is "again". We don't care, we love disney!

If you listed all of the reasons people go to WDW, your poll would be 100 pages long. We love to go to WDW for many, many reasons, number one being able to spend a week as a family with no other outside distractions. This can never happen at home. JMO :goodvibes

I go to Disneyworld because I can leave reality behind for awhile. Disney is my happy place & while there I do not have a worry in the world :goodvibes

I totally agree with this post! When I am at DisneyWorld, I don't think about bills to pay at home, personal problems, or work! I don't know anywhere else in the world you can go and feel like a kid again!!! Thank you, Walt Disney, for giving me a place to enjoy life for a while without any worries!!! :wizard:

I don't know if I can articulate this very well, but I'll try. I go to Disney World with my family (husband and two daughters) because we're just "better" there. Getting away from our daily lives and going to a world where our only agenda is to have fun being together rejuvenates us as a family. After this past trip in August, I really felt like we left there better than when we got there, and I can't wait for our next trip!

Kim - what a great choice of words! That's exactly how we feel.
:)
