I don't know why when someone wants to take a vacation they stick me with all the planning.
I can tell you everything about going to WDW, how to save money, the best places to eat and stay and how to do the parks without waiting alot, but I know nothing about DL.
I wasat DL last year for 2 days, stayed at DLR and walked to the parks. This year a friend is taking me for my birthday but wants me to do all the planning. I would love to stay on property but I am out of DVC points and don't want to pay the cash prices.
I found a few places that will book hotel, airfare and car but want to make sure I do alot of checking into the hotels before I book one. I have read reviews on so many hotels that my mind is spinning.
I want something within walking distance. Some of the hotels claim to be within walking distance but when I research them they say that they are right across the street but in the reviews I see that you have to walk around the block to get to the park. Seems they leave out the part about the fence and not being able to get in on that side.
I am looking into a few but hope some of you can let me know if they are ok. These got pretty good reviews for the price. Ramada Maingate, Aneheim Camelot Inn, Days Inn Aneheim, Tropicana Inn, Castle Inn, Travelodge.
If anyone has any better hotels please let me know, these are the ones I have read reviews for so far.
Would like free or cheap parking at the hotel within walking distance to the park. I don't want to drive over to the parks and have to pay another $15 a day for parking.
We will need a room with a bed. I don't care if it is worn, as long as it is clean. We on;y sleep there, don't spend time there other than sleeping.
Would like a microwave only because I need a hot up of tea when I wake. If we can't get that I will run out in the am for my tea. Don't care about bfst, I don't usually eat it other than my tea... must have tea in the am.
We are planning on 4 days at the parks and on our last day we will drive around a bit before heading to the airport. We have a 9 pm flight so we want to get over to water somehow.
We will arrive on May 25th at about noon and spend 1/2 day Fri,and all day Sat, Sun, and Mon at the parks.
I will have other questions as soon as I find a hotel, so be ready... thanks.

...stayed at the HOJO twice which always rates highly around here espcially if you can get the entertainment rate. I just looked it is not avalible for your dated, but they change constantly you just have to keep checking.
It is a bout a 10 minute walk, my kids did it with lots of am pep and a bit more pm drag. Clean and nice, has microwave , coffee maker fridge etc (at least our rooms did), free parking and WIFI.

This trip we are goin to stay at Park Vue Inn which also rates highly , we could not get entertainment rates this time so if I am paying close to rack rate then I wanted to move closer. Has a few little extras, free breakfast, light supper , water bottle, cookies and fresh fruit in the lobby. Not sure on the parking though as we won't have a car.

HOJOs and Best Western Park Place Inn - have stayed at both and would do so again. We did not drive but if I recall correctly, BWPPI charges $7-8 for parking and is truly across the street from DL

I'll put in a plug for the Desert Inn & Suites. It is about as close as you can get to staying on property without actually doing so. It's basically directly across the street from the tram entrance. I believe I read somewhere that it is actually a closer walk to the front gate than staying at the Disneyland Hotel.
the do charge a $4/night resort fee and an $8/night parking fee, but you can't beat the location!

If you don't mind driving Hotwire has a 3 1/2 star in Disneyland South for I think $67 during those dates. It is probably the Sheraton at best guess. At that price parking at the DLR resort wouldn't be so bad and it doesn't sound like you'll be walking back to your room during the day anyway.

We too have stayed at the HOJO and it was pretty good, but there are closer hotels for less, especially if you aren't bringing kids and won't use their waterpark. We're staying at the Castle Inn this weekend which looks close, but I'm a bit worried about the mixed Tripadvisor reviews.

Please let us know how it went.
