We just got back from two nights at the poly as an add on for another trip and I am hooked!!!!! I want to go again next winter and do a full week onsite and nothing but disney! Didnt think I would love it as much as I did. Convenience was great, theming was great, food, I could go on!!
Thanks to everyone here for your tips, advice etc!!!

We had some pixie dust too....etwb shut down and our girls wanted to see it so we sat and waited for the fireworks nearby....a great CM came over and took us to a special spot to watch wishes and then escorted us first to line up for etwb!!! it was amazing!!

Beast at be our guest picked our middle daughter to dance with too which was adorable!!!!!

now for 2014 planning! DH said 18 months and then this morning agreed to next winter again!! yahoo....thinking CR/AKL split?

Awesome! We really enjoy going specificially to "Disney" and not "Florida" or "Orlando". We love the immersion of it and pixie dust makes it even more special. It sure is addicting though...

Staying onsite definitely provides a totally different experience (in our opinion). I am so glad you had a wonderful and magical time.

So glad you had a great trip! I do love AKL - so unique - happens to be one of my favorite resorts right now but I love them all - LOL. Have a fun time planning!:goodvibes

You could always go Mod (CSR or POR will not disappoint) and stay for 10 or 11 days for the same price ! :)

We will have five in our room and I really enjoyed the monorail as we are at MK from opening to close!! We have never done epcot or hollywood studios yet so looking forward to those parks!!

Glad you had such a great time! An AKL/CR split would be a great idea -- AKL is amazing, and being on the monorail is great if you like the MK. Definitely give AK, Epcot and DHS a try -- the are great!:thumbsup2

Glad your trip turned out to be awesome! I know from your posts that you had alot of questions/concerns about whether it would be worth it, etc....now you know....:goodvibes

Time to start planning your next trip!

My girls love the magic kingdom and next year our youngest will then be 20 months so will be entirely different....she LOVED Mickey this year though at only 8 months old! Laughed with him every time she saw him!

My middle daughter loves animals and wants to go back to Animal kingdom next year so thought of giving AKL a try if the discounts are as good as this year....I booked poly with 35% off.

I would love BLT but we will see, DH isn't into it and I have to make him happy because this was a guy who three years ago said we would go every five years and now we have been three times!!!

Have heard good things about beach club too but maybe when my girls are all older!

well you say akl - so that and the Polyn again -or the CR - you can walk to the MK from the CR/BLT.

there is a resale market for DVC - which is a heck of a lot more reasonable than Disney. It has some disadvantages - but not many.

There is nothing like staying on property IMO- I love never leaving the magic. We did 6 nights this past week at CBR and one night at the Poly- and altho we liked both- we fell in love with the Poly as we thought we would! I am so in love with that resort- it's tropical, the location is great, I love the torches, I love the pool, and it feels so vintage disney.

Don't forget with 5 you could/should look at renting a DVC resort. Lot more reasonable than you would think !:)

Just realized...

If you have 5 people (all over the age of 3) then you can't book a regular room at AKL... The max is 4 plus one child under 3. The rooms there are smaller than they are at the Poly. You would have to look into a suite or a DVC room that sleeps 5.

Glad you had a great time. The Poly is an awesome resort and it's hard to beat the location. We've never stayed at the CR, but I think that would be a good split with AKL. Keep in mind that as the pp said, AKL will work if 5 includes 1 under the age of 3; otherwise, AKL wouldn't be an option in a regular room. I don't know if the GF interests you at all, but that's a beautiful resort and is just 1 monorail stop away from MK. The rooms at the Poly and CR are the largest of the deluxe resorts, but the rooms at the GF are pretty comparable. Good luck deciding on a resort (or resorts) and have fun planning for your 2014 trip :goodvibes.

I'm not a fan of the split stay, I prefer to unpack and stay put. I'd stay at a monorail resort, and go to AKL after AK to check it out and have dinner. Then ride the bus back to MK and either walk to CR or hop on the monorail to get to the Poly.

Thanks everyone. Someone on here told me that if I started deluxe I wouldnt go down to moderate, anyone agree with that?? Would love the LM room for my ariel loving daughter but the room would feel cramped I think.
There will be five of us but our baby will be under 3 next year when we go.
DH said 18 months again at dinner but I know I can convince him to go in February again. I loved going that time of year, crowds were really low and weather was perfect.
My girls cried when we left and said it was their favourite place!

I think my oldest summed it up perfectly when watching wishes she said "when you are at disney anything can happen!"

I am leaning towards poly again to really enjoy it and maybe an epcot resort....which one do people recommend? kids will be almost 2, 5, 6

Dh doesnt want to stay at akl so maybe just dinner there one night.

Not everyone feels they need to stay deluxe once they try it, but we are in that category. Our first onsite stay was at CBR and we had a great trip and loved the resort, but the following year we tried a deluxe and haven't stayed anything but deluxe since. We love the extra amenities the deluxes offer, the larger rooms, the alternate transportation options, etc. AKL is a beautiful resort, but if your DH doesn't want to stay there, I think a Poly split with an Epcot resort is a good idea, especially if your park time will be split among all of the parks. We've only stayed at the BC, but have visited the YC and BWI many times over the years and I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. The BC seems to be a little louder and more hectic than the other two (to me), but I think that's due in large part to Cape May being right inside the BC lobby. But the other two are just as "kid friendly" as the BC and I think you would be happy at any of them. Good luck and happy planning :goodvibes.

We were instantly hooked the first time we stayed on property too! I would never even consider staying off site again. We fell in love with the Epcot resort area and are now DVC members with our home resort being Beach Club...our favorite! We have two trips planned this year and are treating family members to stays in a two bedroom villa. I simply can't get enough of WDW! It's a total addiction!
