in the parking lot of Brooks pharmacy. It was full of money. I turned it into Brooks and they called the owner.
Two years ago at Disney, someone did this for my son. He had lost his wallet at the Haunted Mansion. It was turned in, money and all.
:thumbsup2

Excellent, a huge pat on the back for you! I remember when I was around 11, we were going to Disney and stopped at a rest stop. It was right after Christmas and I had my new purse with all my Christmas spending money in it. I left it there! I was so upset, luckily my sweet twin sister shared her money with me and whatever she got, she'd buy me one too. So on our way home, we stopped by the rest stop just to see if it had been turned in. Surprisingly enough, it had been turned in MONEY AND ALL!

Thanks for being so considerate and honest!

That happened to me as well - I lost my wallet, full of cash, debit cards, and checks, at a flea market/summer festival last year (in a town that has a poor reputation). Miraculously, someone turned it into the local police department with its contents untouched! :)

I am a true believer in 'what goes around comes around'!
Know the owner was very appreciative for your honesty. :goodvibes

I have found several wallets and always turned them in. Sadly, I have also lost my wallet/purse 3 times in my life . The last time was on a cruise to Jamaica. Had lunch at Jimmy Buffet's and I didn't even know I had forgotten my fanny pack...probably in rest room. When I returned to ship, security asked to see me. Some kind Jamaican had returned by purse with all my cash, CC's, DL, ID. I was so amazed and greatful at some strangers honesty and regret I could never properly thank or reward them. :confused3

Great stories

now for a not so good one....my DS was about 15, snowboarding in the Poconos for a day trip with one of his friends. His wallet must have fallen out of his pocket. He got the wallet back, but without the $$ :sad2: It's hard when you're that age and you have to work really hard to get the $80 that was in his wallet. Good thing was, the thief missed the big mall gift certificate that was sitting with the $$.

Kudos to you for handing it in :thumbsup2

When I was about 8 I received my first wallet (pink ;) ) for my birthday. I brought it on our trip to Florida and left it in the bathroom at Weeki Wachi. We stopped at the front desk, called a bunch of times- no one had turned it in. It was waiting in the mailbox when we got back from our trip- some man had picked it up, saw that my address was in it, and sent it directly to me cash and all!!

I also lost my wallet a few years ago on the street (just fell out of my purse I guess)- a guy called and told me to come pick it up. I got it from him but the $20 was gone from it- he was really poor so I didn't feel too bad- I was just happy to get the wallet w/ all the CC's in it back!!

Also, I found a wallet one time at the shoe store I worked at- a man had left his wallet with $560 in CASH in it!! What?! Who carries that kind of money??? I looked up his phone # from his license and called the guy and he came and picked it up. The kicker was that he didn't even THANK ME! :confused3

Just last week I found a Palm Treo 700 phone on the side of the street. I saw it while walking my dogs. It had no battery, so I could not just turn it on and call someone in the internal phone book to see if we could find the owner. I had no clue how much those phones were worth, so I did a search for them. I quickly found that they went for aroud $500. Holy Cow :scared1:
It had Verizon printed on it so I decided to take it to the Verizon store closest to me. They had the owner in the system and called him right away. Luckily he had insurance and had allready gotten a replacement phone. But he told me that all the info he had stored on the "lost" phone was priceless. He could not stop thanking me enough. I am just glad he got it back.

Yep, good for you,luvsmickeymouse! :thumbsup2
We need more hearts like you in the world! and some nice follow up stories here that prove just that.

anticipating Soarin' is ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE, don't ever change it!! :)

We have good people on here!

When out with my son (10yo at the time) to Home Depot one day, he spotted a wallet in the parking lot. It had roughly $200, credit cards and a drivers license. Long story short - - My son found the person in the phone book and we returned it to them. The woman handed my son a $20 bill and told him, "for being an honest boy, please go and see a movie on me." He told her no and she insisted on him taking it. I was so proud of him for the way he handled everything! :)

I have found wallets and pocketbooks but would never turn them into the store if I found them in the parking lot...I would call the people directly or a few times I just drove to their house and left it in their mailbox...I work someplace that when people turn things in I know they never make it back to their owners so I don't trust anyplace to give things back that I turn in, I prefer to do it myself where I know they will get it back!

:thumbsup2 Glad to hear that you did such a wonderful thing! I am sure the person who owned the wallet is very happy!

They are probaly so thankful you turned it in.

I lost my purse once. I tended to put my purse on my trunk when I would put the kids in the carseat. I was in a rush and forgot about it. WHen I was driving I didn't see it because I had a burger king crown in my back window. My purse manage to stay there for about 4 miles and I went over a set of train tracks. Luckliy a woman picked it up and had left a message on my machine when I got back home. I was so greatful and she said she has done that before too.

Lesson learned: No burger king crowns in my back windows.
