I found a quarter!

I agree and have the same vacation bank. We throw all the change in and my son always is putting some in. Its a great way to have a little extra for tips or what not.

(and to think this hasn't turned into an economics lesson from some by now)

I actually found a quarter today in the parking lot of our local grocery store...and immediately thought of this thread!!
(Okay...too much time on the boards!)

Well my savings plan not only include the change but when I go to the grocery store I add on to the total to get change back 10 or 20 dollars. When I get home that goes in a hidden stash out of the bank account! Saving quickly - otherwise DH would just spend it on something silly. I'm saving money for the cruise souvienEARs and DD gets the "change" savings for her "EARS".

Having a vacation bank sounds like a good idea. I wanted to save more money before my trip but the sale during last 2 weeks was so attractive. I ended up spending a little more than I expected. *Ouch*

Here's some food for thought. If you have some extra time and a digital camera ... sell some stuff on ebay! I put a LOT of money towards our DCL family vacations this way.

I sold new/used toys, videos/dvds, books, video games, computer software, puzzles, clothing, etc ... When you run out of things to put up for auction you start looking around your house thinking, "Hmmm, what can I sell?". It is a bit time consuming, but it's a great win-win. You make good money AND you get rid of stuff you don't need or use anymore. There are discussion boards on ebay to help out with any selling/shipping questions you may have. It's very easy to get started and it's also a lot fun.

Good luck saving for your cruise and I hope more people will share ideas on how they saved for their cruises too!

I also have the change saving bug. I have a Disney Vacation fund bottle that I hide from myself so the temptation is not there to take any. I put any found money in it and yes that means the dollars found in the wash. I am trying to get everyone in my family to do the same. But how do you tell a 5 and 8 year old that they have to save the money, they want there CANDY!! I am working with them. I also started a savings account that only I have can get to the money so DH doesn't know how much is in it, I put some away every week. As long as he doesn't know I know that we will have the money for the spa!!

DisneyCruiseluvr-- what a great idea! I've been meaning to do the ebay thing but haven't been motivated to actually take the pictures, do the listing, etc. You've motivated! I would LOVE to upgrade to a Cat 3 if I could (currently Cat 4-- still a bit ambitious), but would settle paying for the REAS pkg! Thanks!
