I find this rude

When I have run my quests, I make it VERY clear that the prize is a buyable item. When asked if there is a "good" prize mixed in somewhere, I reply, "Any prize should be considered "good" as it is a gift that you are not having to pay for yourself."

When the further persist, I smily reply, "Please do my quest for the journey and the fun, not for the prize. I designed it for you to enjoy playing, with a little gift at the end, not a series of hoops for you to jump through in order to get a great prize."

At that point, people either leave or say, "Cool. I'll give it a try."

Maybe pull some of these approaches to explaining your prizes. Many people do not understand that players have to provide their own prizes in player run quests and / or games.

well to all the hosts, i appreciate your effort!

i play if there is a prize lol once when we were voting for the NPC i had alot of ned pin and need to get rid of them some 1 trade me ghost magic or all those ned pins they could not fill is sig but he did not care about ghost i think he must have more and he only had pins with him at the time oh well i was hoping for a chair bc i was poor then but ghost magic Yea

even if the prize is rare you might need it later to make a room i found that out the hard way (don't ask)

I forgot how mauch patience it takes to run a game.

I just opened my new game tonight, and everyone wanted to stay or enter. I mean you have to know that when there are 4 chairs with 4 players in them you have to wait. Instead OWNER CAN I COME IN? Ughh. That was very rude that that player told you they only play for rare.

I was in your game room last night. :)
It looked very nice.
But I know what you mean about the people constantly asking you if they could come in. It was driving ME crazy. I finally said "they're in the middle of a game" and got disconnected. Alas.

Thanks for the kind comments. Some people in there last night kept saying this game socks. Of course I couldn't boot them because I couldn't see them. :lmao: But I have come up with a more efficient way to let people in.

Hi there,

I don't want to take over your thread, but please keep in mind the age of some of the players.

My five year old can read and type very well, but he doesn't understand some of the concepts like beta and rare. He copies what the other players say not always knowing the meaning. He can be overly generous if someone is nice to him, but can be very rude unknowingly also. If a player tries to trade with him saying Narnia or High school musical is rare- he believes them. He then goes on to tell someone else the same thing. He is too innocent, I guess.

There are players from 4-64 in this game, and we are all setting examples for them when we play.

That is one thing to keep in mind, but it also explains why vmk can be so frustrating. The game is designed to be for everyone over the age of 8 years, b/c no matter how well a 5 year old can type and play on the computer, they are just too young to play this game. I'm sorry, but there are many reasons why I would never let my kids play vmk until they were the suggested age. Being old enough to understand the rules and concepts for one, and all the stuff that goes on like "taken". It would be like having a 10 year old genius who skipped a few grades and was in High School. If that was my kid, they would go to a special school for gifted KIDS, I would not put my young child in a HS environment even if they are smart enough for the classes. There is more to HS than just what you learn.

That's my lame analogy for the day.

That being said, about player-made games: I stopped running them b/c of all the irritation that goes with it. I even stopped playing. Whenever I do decide to check one out, I'm usually the "peace keeper" in the room. When it's a trade room (which I frequent much more than games) and everyone is saying "owner! owner!" i am the one who says "they are probably in a trade, and you cannot talk to the room when you are trading!" or if it's a game and people are being unreasonable in line, I'll say "the owner is trying to run the game now, she can't trade/tell you where she got her costume/be your friend/answer questions that are in room info/etc etc". I try to explain things for new people or kids or whoever is being "annoying" (just a word to emcompass any behavior mentioned in this thread), since the owner is usually busy. I was actually once booted for trying to do this, when I was trying to HELP the owner! LOL

I have my own trade room, and I love for people to come in, trade me, trade each other, etc. But I wish people would realize 2 things:

1. Look at room info and there is the owner's name! ("who is the owner?" ad nauseum)

2. If someone is trading they cannot answer you in the room, and the owner is probably constantly trading.

When I am running my room I will say (when I get a trade request) "ok, trading now..." and when I'm done "okay available to trade!" People do not listen I always see talk in the background of my trade window..."Miakoda? Owner? Is owner here? Miakoda what do you want for the _____?"

And I wish everyone who played knew what items were rare and the value of everything, but I know that is too much to ask. It takes a while to learn, but it does get annoying when people think the red philharmagic chair or a lantern is rare.

Ok I may have gone a TAD :offtopic: but I had to get my rants out. Sorry :teeth:
