I find this odd. (Yard sale related.)

Had a very successful yard sale Saturday. Yay! :yay: There was a really sweet older man who bought a huge desk with a hutch that sits on top (takes 4 men to move) and 8 dining room chairs. He paid cash for the items (not cheap) and asked us to hold them until Sunday afternoon. No problem. :thumbsup2 As of a few minutes ago, he's phoned me 4 times putting off when he can come for them. Now it's Wednesday of next week. I wouldn't feel comfortable *pre-paying* for items and leaving them this long with strangers. Would you? :confused3

Personally, no. But he did pay for them ahead of time...

I had a girl do that once, and never came back for her item (I think she was on something at the time of sale...). She didn't leave a name or number - no way to contact her.

Maybe he is having a hard time finding someone to help move them?

To answer your question, yes we have had people pay and arrange for pickup later and have done the same. So not out of the ordinary really.

I had someone buy a desk once. They pre-paid, took my number and said they'd come back the next day.

I moved out of the house 18 months later and they had never come back for the items nor did they ever call.

That desk went to the curb when I moved.

No, not pre-paying and arranging a later pick-up...that's not out of the ordinary. Putting off pick-up 4 times since Saturday and *trusting* us to have his items is what I find odd. We will! :thumbsup2 Some people, however, would take advantage of this man. Just kind of gets to me that he's so trusting.

So has he come for the pick up yet?

I guess there are just some people out there who are trustworthy themselves and still believe there are others who are likewise.. I see that as a good thing..:thumbsup2

Well he is old. We have had a few rare birds in there as well. Which surprise... they were old people.;)

Maybe he is a hoarder? I have heard that hoarders like to buy stuff in this manner. Refusing your help suggests something like that maybe?:confused3

Has he picked it up yet?

Not yet. The pickup has worked itself from this past Sunday until next Wednesday. We'll see. ;) He's cute as a bug and I enjoy talking to him. That helps! :thumbsup2

Maybe he keeps putting it off so that he has a reason to call you and chat
