I Finally Saw 2012

I liked it but I went in expecting exactly what I got - a mindless, roller coaster ride of a movie. I think that an excellent ride could be created from it.

The 2012 thing fascinates me. I don't believe it for a second but it's fun to conjecture about what the Mayans actually meant.

Unfortunately, if the "movie" knew, they are keeping it a secret. ;)

I totally agree. I knew it would be stupid, but it sure was a fun ride!!! And Indepence Day is one of my favorite movies ever, can pretty much recite it word for word.

ugh it was pretty bad, wasn't it??

first of all, it was entirely too long. it was almost 3 hours long!!

and then everytime something bad happened they just HAPPENED to get out of the situation RIGHT AT THE LAST MINUTE....everytime!! not to mention the world didn't even "end" anyway, after 30 days some land started popping up.

plus it was so unbelieveable. imo, if the end of the world happend, the entire earth wouldn't cave in on itself. i think electronics would shut down, and then the earth would start to die. MAYBE a few earthquakes, but i just think everything would die off.

it was such a hard movie to get thru and keep my attention.

i'm much more of a fan of the movies where some virus takes over or something. seems a bit more realistic

Wait a minute...I liked Independence Day!:lmao: Sometimes mindless entertainment is just the ticket! LOL
Oh, and 2012 just arrived from Netflix in today's mail! What a coincidence:rotfl:

i liked Independence Day, too. even THAT movie seemed more realistic than 2012 did.

Independence Day was a classic! That's why 2012 was a joke, it was obvious they were using that same format

:lmao: We're watching it right now. This would be a great movie for the MST3K guys to mock. I love it--it's so campy. And DH loves any movie where the world ends so I'm sure I'll be seeing this again since he watches The Day After Tomorrow and Independence Day any time they're on tv. It'll be nice to add something new into the rotation. ;)

OK, a little off track, but I have to say 2012 is Oscar material compared to this unbelieveably horrid movie I'm watching on SyFy right now called Sea Beast!!!!!

Well then, if THAT is your preference, here is a movie that is even WORSE than 2012. QUARANTINE. It was on Starz last week. This movie, filmed by a hand held camera was so bad, that I actually continued to watch it just to see if it could improve. It didn't. It wasn't salvagable.

Actually that's a horror movie and considered one of the best of the genre. I would NOT watch this unless you're a horror movie buff because it seems that only members of that group like this type of movie.

It looks like we're on opposite ends of the movie spectrum. ;)

I like horror films but there are so many that are better. The Thing for example.

ITA! We saw it in a movie theater and after about 30 minutes, none of us could take it anymore. Made me feel like Blair Witch Project all over again. Too much  for the most stupid plot lines.

We found another movie that was just starting. It was Appaloosa with Viggo Mortensen. :cloud9: So much better!

I loved (not) how Amanda Peet's nice new guy Gordon was a good husband and stepfather to her two kids, flew the freaking plane and the copiloted another, saved Cusack's butt, and again, was a decent person, but not two minutes after John told Amanda that her husband had died, she was kissing John. And then at the very end, they were all hugged up together and she has such a happy face, so content, it's like Gordon never existed.

It was seriously bad and I like this kind of movie.

She did have that, "now that he's gone" look in her eye! :rotfl:

We rented it a few nights ago...I agree total waste of time and money. It was very unbelievable and I thought the special effects were kind of shoddy too. :confused3

I watched it at a friends house this weekend and I would like those 2.5 hours of my life back. It was sooo ridiculous.

Oh I thought the little dog on there was adorable. :lovestruc I kept asking my husband if we could get a dog like that, while we were watching. I think that is all I remember of the movie!

I didn't see the movie, and don't plan to! I did buy Up In The Air, that I am looking forward to watching.

Oh man I cannot wait to see it now....I love the cheese. Although I expect it to be super cheesy with the trailers I have seen.:rotfl:
