Well I finally managed to get enough nerve to ride Mission Space on Friday, November 4th!
I followed all the instructions to a "T". Kept my head back and stared straight ahead at the screen. I didn't even follow the commands given during the ride because I was afraid to move my eyes to push the buttons LOL!
I did OK... just a little queasy, but that could be due to the fact that we ate a big breakfast before the ride. I know I shouldn't have, but this was my last chance of the trip to try it... So it was then, or I would have to wait until December (and if I waited, I was afraid I would chicken out again!)
So my advice to all of you that are afraid to try it...
Go on an empty stomach... follow all the instructions, and you should be OK!
It's so cool... everyone should experience it at least once!

Isn't it an amazing ride? Good for you for trying it! You must feel very proud. :)

I was the same way as you and finally tried it this past Oct. My friend who'd never done it said "We're doing it" and off we went. Talk about butterflies!!! As you did, I also followed all directions, missed the first button, but did the second one.

Great ride, will do it again!!! :teeth:

Good for you!! I agree- it's such a great buzz, I think everyone should experience it.

So, would you suggest doing this on an empty stomach at the end of my trip....just in case? :bounce:

We went on with empty stomachs & my DS got so sick it almost ruined the rest of our day. I guess it depends upon the person.

I personally love this ride. I'm glad you tried it!

Not me man! I'm a big chicken.

Glad you had fun!

Now I play with ALL of the buttons and switches during the ride, It keeps me occupied and more in to the ride.

I was queasy my first time, but now that I really get in to the ride, I'm fine and enjoy MS all the time.

If you don't push the buttons at the right time, you will crash-land on Mars!

actually you do that anyway.

You have convinced me to try it! Now if I have just eaten right before the ride, then I will not ride it!

I was so afraid of this ride! Then I went with DH alone in August and he made me do it. I was terrified, but it is so awesome, I think we rode it 3 times, I loved it. I am glad you tried it!

We did it a few weeks ago for the first time and really liked it. As our trip got closer it seemed like I was hearing more negative than positive about it. I knew we were going to try it anyway and I'm glad we did. It was DH, DD9 and I. Everyones first question is "Did you like it" with 2nd question being "What were you". I don't remember for sure, I think I was Commander. Maybe not. Well, whatever I was I pushed my buttons as did DD9 & DH(I think he did the 4th seat too). My only complaint about it, not that I'm complaining, would be that it was FREEZING in there. Overall, we thought it was pretty cool, can't wait to ride it again next year.

I think they have it so cold now to help people avoid passing out and getting sick. DH and I both commented that the cold air blowing on you was far more intense than when the ride first opened. He thinks it made a huge difference to how he felt after riding it.

I love it, and do it every time we go. DD8 said she'd try it this last trip, but I'm not so anxious to have her go on. Now RNR, that's a different story !

One thing, during a child swap 2 years ago, DH went on it twice in a row, and was ill the rest of the day. Only once a day for us now !

I've ridden it twice. Yes, the cold air blowing on you helps and I wouldn't recommend it on a totally empty stomach or a too full stomach. My problem isn't queasiness, it's the clausterphobic feeling I get after the harness clicks in and I can't move it. I have to do lamaze breathing to get through the next few minutes, then I'm fine. I heard that they have slowed the ride down from when it first opened, to make the experience less intense and less people get sick.

I love this ride. My sister went on it 5 times in a row last spring.
My DBF and I went on it a few times in a row, stuffed and tipsy from a great birthday dinner at Bistro de Paris (Did we really spend $120 on drinks? Yes. Yes we did.)
Nary a hiccup.
