I've been lurking here for a while, dreaming of another Disney trip. Been there 2xs since 2000, once for honeymoon and once for anniversary.

Well, last night DH said....GO AHEAD! That was all I needed to hear.

So my first question.......we would like to go in the end of January, for my Birthday. Either the 22-29 or 29 - Feb 5th. Is either of these weeks better than the other? I know that they are both avaiable with the codes, but I was wondering if there is anything going on during either of those weeks. I couldn't find anything.

Second question, after everything I have read, I am torn between POR and CSR. I would like this to be a nice quiet romantic trip, would one of those be better than the others.

Thanks for your help! I am sooooooo excited!

I can't answer your questions, but welcome and congratulations!

Have a great trip! ::yes::

Congrats, mzspaz!

I lurked a long time before registering too! As far as your questions, I've stayed at CSR, but not POR. CSR was absolutely beautiful and I think you'd love it. It has a gorgeous lake that was so nice to stroll around after dinner or in the morning with a cup of coffee. The pools are great---an awesome big pool with a nice pool bar and then pretty quiet pools for each section of rooms. I think you could have a very romantic trip at CSR!

Have fun planning!

Same here. Never been to WDW yet so I can't chime in with any suggestions. But, welcome and glad you could join us!

Just wanted to give my vote for POR. Now to be fair I haven't stayed at CSR at all so I can't compare the two resorts. But we love POR. We are actually trying the POFQ section this next trip because it is smaller. I love the boat ride to Downtown Disney! and we are going to try the carriage rides too. That sounds romantic. I guess it depends on what types of themes you like too. If you like the lake theme then CSR might be the way to go.

One other thing. CSR I know has conferences in January. I know this because I just booked my boss at a conference there the week of Jan 16-20th. Not sure if that impacts the "romantic" stuff but just thought you would like to know. I had to call directly to CSR to reserve their rooms and the nice CM I spoke with says they have lots of conferences there. Does anyone else know about this?

Since it is only you and your hubby you would only need a studio at one of the DVC resorts. January is the cheapest month so you would actually be able to rent points at BCV or BWV for close to the prices you will get for the moderates and you would have that great location. Just a thought. PM if you want more information on that!

Happy planning!!

Congrats on your upcoming trip! I think either week would be good - you'll miss the holidays for MLK Jr's Bday & Presidents day with either...

I've never stayed at CSR but I agree with gringrinninghost's opinion of POR Alligator Bayou.

While planning the trip we took last week DH told me no more for at least 3 yrs (yah right!!) by the middle of the week he told me 2 years & by the end of the trip he told me if we saved up we could go again in 14 months!! That's all the encouragement I need to start the planning again!

Christine, that is so funny!
:rotfl:

My hubby started this week with, "I don't want to go back again for three more years". I just smiled. "We'll see" I said!

Where did you stay on your Honeymoon and anniversary? Did you find it romantic?

Wow, now I am really torn!

CMbar, we stayed at CBR for honeymoon, it was nice, but we were "new" to the Disney thing with both of us only having been there with our parents and the last time I had been there was when Epcot was being built. So we booked through a TA and although we had a great time, if I had known about this place it would have been better. CBR was nice, but not quite the themeing DH and I like.

For our anniversary, we did a split stay at Universal. loved the RPR! And stayed at the WL. I loved the WL and we had used a code, but didn't feel the deluxe was any better than the moderate.

drgnfly30 - yeah, DH said on honeymoon that it would be 5 years. I got that down to 2. Our anniversary trip, he said probably 10 years. Well, I almost had it down to 1 year as we were planning a trip for January 2004, then his dad died and everything was put on hold. We moved into a new house and sold our old one for more than we were expecting. So the extra money goes to the disney trip, plus the disney visa dollars and the "mickey fund/spare change" that we have.

buckeye - the lake theming does sound nice but I am concerned about the conventions.

thanks for the help guys. CMbar, going to send you a PM when I have some more time, I'd like to know more about that!

First of all.................WELCOME!

With that being said, I would choose POR for the reasons many have listed before. ::yes::

You know, I'm going off on a tangent here, but if you want a nice romantic trip, the POFQ is so much better. It's small, compact and to me has a more romantic feel to it than POR.

I think that's a matter of opinion. DH and I LOVE POR and thought is was the most romantic of all of the mods. POFQ felt more "motely" to us. I loved the wide open feeling of POR. It felt just like being on a great big southern plantation. BTW- We stayed in the mansion section - Magnolia Terrace
