I scared my poor parents half to death with my shriek, but I just got my Jack Sparrow outfit! AHHHHH!!!!!

And it only took me, let's see... 1155 codes to do it!

As promised, I will continue on though. I will gift someone an outfit, if it's the last thing I do. Although I need to take a break for a little bit, I do believe.

On that note, someone may need to come scrape me off of my floor.

Thanks everyone. And I also have quite a rabid, newfound popularity on VMK it seems. Including one too many "Are you taken?" comments for my liking. Ahem.

Anyhow, for those who are curious, that code came from the 2nd day the game was available. I got it very late at night (as in around 3 or 4am EST late ).

I hope my success reminds you all that there is hope! Do not give up! And hopefully I will have another one for one of you soon.

ok, sorry to barge on your well deserved elatedness (if that's a word), but
1) why do you guys keep count of how many codes you enter especially at that high of a count
2) your eyes must be numb trying to focus and type--have you given up all other aspects of vmk to get/enter codes? Where's the time?
3)MOST IMPORTANTLY, dh closed out my window for pirate game (aarggg )and now I've joined the ranks of those who had to play the game through to get new code each time. I can't find that thread to see if there was still another shortcut so can someone direct me to it if there is? My pirate costume hunting days are over if I have to play each time. Way too time consuming. TIA

caribbound - use this link to get codes http://adisney.go.com/disneypictures/pirates/main.html?startLocation=flyingDutchman and after you get the code, click the wheel (in the right corner below the code) and it takes you back to just before the organ, then you click the door and you don't have to play the organ again. Rinse, repeat.

I don't keep an exact count of my codes personally. Usually I keep them in groups of five in a txt file when I organize them so I can tell roughly how many I have. Though I don't do much else on VMK now, except today when I took a break, and this weekend when I took a break for the quests.

Thanks for the congrats. As for your questions:

1. Only reason I actually know how many I entered is because I copied and pasted all of my codes into a word processing document and had it set up beforehand to automatically number everything. Did that to keep myself from entering too many codes in one day/in one log in session, since all the warnings were flying around.

2. I only got a few codes after the initial shortcut went bye bye, and those were for another DISer. That way still takes a long time on my computer. So, all of my codes were from the first couple days. And yes, my eyes are tired... but worse than that is my back and neck. Hence why I'm taking a computer break for a couple days starting... well, starting as soon as I finish replying to this post! And yes, I have done nothing in VMK but enter codes and place furniture since this started, with the exception of playing 1 fireworks game today and 1 over the weekend, and maybe 2 games of Pirates (not the movie game, LOL). Also played Hula's game on Monday (and won! ). Basically my VMK time has been "Visit NPCs, make a new music mix, play a music mix, enter codes, then play mix again every half hour." I probably spent 2 & a half hours per day just entering codes. Yeah. Sounds silly, but I'm stubborn and was determined to get that darned thing, no matter how impossible they wanted to make it for us all.

3. Peacefully has explained that one well.

well since sorcererdonald said they're leaving for a few days, I might as well answer that. Especially since I've entered more than them. hehe

Basically I purposely type slowly, try not to enter more than 75 or so in an hour, and I've used about 2-3 different accounts so they're more spaced out. Also, the only time I got a warning was when I started typing them before waiting for the mail about what I won, so they got backed up a little.

I'm about to log off and embark on my break for real this time, but I felt like this was an important question to answer.

The game started last Tuesday, correct? I think that's when it was. I never started entering codes before maybe 7pm EST. I'd enter anywhere from 75 a day (that was the first day) to 220 some (which was day before yesterday, I believe). I also get disconnected every 20 or so minutes now since this game started, so maybe that helped.

What I did was enter the code with one hand only to slow myself down. Next, I'd close out the message saying what it was. Then I'd type next to the code in my document a double dash and then M (monkey), P (poster), C (Dead Man's Chest), or O (organ). So if the code was CONN-ECTI-ONER-RORS, and it gave me a monkey, it would then say "CONN-ECTI-ONER-RORS-- M." Tedious, but it kept me from going too fast. And I was interested to see how evenly (or not so evenly) the items were distributed, so it worked.

I would then place the item in my room. Not until yesterday did I quit placing the item in a room. What I would do then was deposit the stuff after every 25 or so codes. If it started taking a long time for a code to register, I'd take that as a cue that the system might've thought I was entering too many. So, I'd go to the Music Mix game or visit a friend for a few minutes.

And I realize this is odd, but I also talked to myself in my room when I was alone and entering codes. Why? In hopes that in case VMK ever thought I was using 3rd party software (which I most definitely was NOT and wouldn't even know how to use even if it was allowed), they would see that I was in fact at my computer and when I talked, no codes were being entered. I'd also walk down Main Street or some such place every 20 minutes or so for a minute or two.

Probably not a foolproof method, but it worked for me. Never once got a warning. And I shouldn't have. And I shouldn't have had to worry about it in the first place. The fact any of us had to/have to worry about that is rather irritating, as I'm sure you all agree.
