I know that there are a lot of people on the boards in similar situations so I know a lot of you will understand why I am so happy but...

I finally got to my pre-illness weight!!!

When I got sick freshman year of high school, I weighed 130lbs. By the end of high school after 3 years of basically being on steroids constantly as well as being restricted form the gym because no one knew what was wrong with my heart, I gained 65 lbs so I weighed 195lbs. I was able to stay stable at that for about a year while still on and off steroids but I couldn't lose anything.

In August 2008, I finally got off steroids for my skin adn got put on maintenance drugs. I was still on steroids for asthma but it wasn't as bad. I dropped about 20lbs in 4 months just being off steroids but I was still at 175 and I am only about 5'2" (5'3" on a good day..lol). At this point, I was still on restricted exercising and the exertion I was getting from my job (daycare worker) was what i was limited to. I stayed between 170-175 for another 7 months until we finally found out what was causing my heart problem in Sept. 2009.

I was on constant steroids for Oct 2009-Dec. 2009 for my asthma but once Jan. 2010 hit, I was given the all clear to go back to the gym. Between Jan 2010 and June 2010 I got down to 155lbs.

I had brain surgery in June 2010 and was on high dose steroids for 2 months and out of the gym for 14 weeks. I ended up back at 165lbs post-recovery.

Since Sept, I have been on steroids 4 times, hospitalizaed once for surgery and once for asthma BUT, I have finally gotten down to 129lbs!!!!!!!!!!! I never gave up healthy eating and anytime I was not sick, I was in the gym doing my workout.

I am still really sick and most of my illnesses seem to be worse than when I was first diagnosed BUT, I was able to accomplish this! 66lbs GONE. No surgery, no restrictive diets, nothing. Just sensible eating and exercise. Yes it took a LONG time (almost 3 years to lose 66lbs) but it was so worth the frustration.

I am aiming for another 5-10 lbs but i'll take what I have right now.

I know there are so many people on these boards who are going through or who have been through their own weightloss journeys....good luck and congratualtions to everyone out there.

Just wanted to give you some :cool1::cheer2::worship::yay:.

Thanks for the reminder that persistence and good choices lead to weight loss, even if it takes a long time! (Yes, I knew that already... but it's easy to forget when I'm feeling tired, lazy, busy, impatient, etc.) But I'm relatively healthy, so no excuses, right? :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 Great. How are you feeling??? Any update.

I also lost a lot of weight. Now I am waiting on a rehab program through my work insurance. I am quite excited about this. I hope to tone up!!!!!!!!!!!! This I need.:thumbsup2

You've really had a terrible time but have come out a winner! I bet you look and feel incredible!!!!! :thumbsup2

Congratulations! I am supposed to go to the gym tonight to work out, and was just sitting here thinking I didn't want to.....I really needed some inspiration, so thanks for posting this! I will be there after work today for my session. :thumbsup2
