While clearing out some cupboards where I work, I found a couple of copies of the Daily Mirror from 1971 (I was 9 when these were published). I was discussing the prices in some of the adverts with a collegue - 20½p for a packet of cigarettes, 10½p for a 2 roll pack of Andrex.
We were discussing that 1971 was the year we went decimal when one of the young teachers said "What do you mean by go decimal?" She didn't even know that we had had a ½p coin.
