I feel like I don't have any friends anymore......

i know how you feel, OP  i haven't had a close girlfriend since high school, 20 years ago. when something good or bad happens in my life, the only person i have to turn to is my DH. honestly, there's no one to call. quite sad i know, but it does happen. even reconnecting with people i went to high school with on facebook hasn't helped. i am friendly, intelligent, funny (hilarious, according to my DH) and supportive to anyone and everyone. i don't get it, but i guess that's just how it is. i wish you better luck.

I had a friend who I would have done anything for. I visited her twice, once in Japan, once in Oregon. We shared secrets and people we knew thought of us as insuperable.

One day a mutual friend of ours asked if we had seen each other yet. I was confused because she was living 1,400 miles away. I was informed that she was in town for the weekend and she hadn't told me. When I confronted her about it she said that the trip wasn't about me and that she was too busy to call.

.

Gosh-something VERY similar happened to me-but it was more embaressing.

Two years after my close friend moved to the next state-i walked into a gift shop by my house (OWNED BY A MUTUAL FRIEND). mY "friend" was there chatting. I was so surprised and asked her how things were back in ###State.
WEll-she was now divorced(told me all the gory details) and she had moved BACK here-in another area and her kids were in different schools than mine.

I was shocked & hurt that she never called me and never spoke to her again
:sad1:

DH and I are now in our mid40s (gulp), and he is MUCH better at making and maintaining close friendships than I am. He has a specific activity that he loves to do, and that's where he's made these friends. I have lots of "acquaintances", but haven't seemed to make the kind of connections he has:confused3. I actually got a bday present from DS's BF's mom, and was THRILLED that maybe she's moving into that "friend" category! (Pitiful huh?)

Hugs to you, and wish we all lived closer to each other...

Terri
