I am the mom of a teenager today.

DS thinks it's hilarious. I don't.

:hug:Believe me, you are still young if you have kids in their teens. Lots of surprises and fun ahead!:santa:

I've been in your place for three months now. I don't think it gets better any time soon...

As for feeling old, getting the occasional piece of junk mail from AARP wasn't so bad, as I know I'm nowhere near old enough to join so I just tossed it. However, when I got a coupon for a free pair of bifocal contact lenses as a birthday gift (from my contact lens manufacturer), I felt REALLY old!!

You have aged several years overnight. Teenage years to the parents work like dog years.

:lmao: I feel like I aged a THOUSAND years since my son became a teen!!

Good luck!! :yay:

to your son :bday:

OMG, I just turned 37 and I have started getting AARP stuff over the past several months! :lmao:

With two grandchildren in their twenties I have stopped aging and simply started the decaying process... :sad1:

Congratulations! Just wait...one day you'll wake up as the parent of a legal ADULT. :scared1: That one really through me for a loop. :sad2:

I took that hard too. But starting high school is worse! :scared1: Brace yourself!

I LOVE THE TEENAGE YEARS! My DD is 16 1/2, just got her driver's license (which makes me a nervous wreck), and is a TERRIFIC young lady.

My advice--stay as close as possible. My husband and I are involved in lots of things (like chaperoning marching band events). It keeps us all on the same page and we've gotten to know her friends very well (and even her boyfriend).

Don't let everyone scare you!

Now leaving for college--that's another story altogether!

I have 6 months until that one:scared1::scared1: Both of mine are teens...I don't think the fact that I have more gray hairs now than I did 6 months ago (when the youngest became a teen) is a coincidence!!

This is where I am actually getting hit...my oldest is a senior in HS (I have stayed close....I spent more time in that HS as a parent than I ever did as a kid:rotfl:) and the youngest is in her last year at Middle School....quite the roller coaster of emotions.

I'll be the mother of a teen next month ~ I'm not looking forward to it. :sad2:
