I feed my cat plenty!

DH & I were joking that our kids' first words will be "No!", "Mine!", and "Get down!"...all because that's what we say several times a day to our bad (but oh-so-cute) kitty that likes to steal things & jump on the kitchen table.

hubby and i are convinced our son's first sentence will be a string of not dis friendly words followed by sushi (dog).

we've had cats and use to watch in amazement how fast they could rip into the cat food bag. finally got smart and use plastic bins.

i forgot to get treats for the cat and picked up a bag of $ store treats. OMG i have gotten the biggest talking to all week by the cat. i could just hear him saying horrible mom. he's finally quiet since i bought the good kind.

I swear it is like a cruise ship buffet at my home and it is NEVER good enough.
The conversations I have with other cat owners on the pet food aisle always make me laugh, they totally own us.

lol, he definately does make the rules around here.


I never leave the crunchy bag out, it lives under the cabinet. It was just an oversight this time. I do wish I took a pic but well, I was too involved in the moment to get the camera. He is a funny cat, we really do need to keep an eye on him.

You need to give this cat dry food. And wet food. And treats.

And when he feels like it, he will rip the bag open and spread that stuff around and maybe eat a little. And you will clean it up.

Do you not understand your job yet? How long must the two of you cohabit before you get it?

Dogs have owners. Cats have staff.

You may be right about the "bad word" thing. When I was a kid, we got a cute little puppy.....chihuahua pekinese mix, fit in my mother's housecoat pocket..... Anyway, we briefly named it, but soon it got a new name that stuck.

This was back in the days of pole lamps and throw rugs galore. The puppy would chew threw the electrical cord on the pole lamps (while it was plugged in--can't believe he didn't get electrocuted) and render them useless. My mother would discover it and yell something akin to "Dang it, dog, you ruined my lamp!" But the word wasn't dang. He would fold over her throw rugs and chew a hole in the middle and then unfold them, so they resembled a doughnut. She'd come in and yell, "Dang it, dog, you chewed up my new rug!"

You get the picture. She adored that little dog, but when he was a puppy, he was destructive as all get out and before long, he heard Dammit so much that he took to answering to that name whenever he heard it. It became his new name. Be careful what you say around your pets.

But yet I come home to find he has chewed open the bag of dry cat food and helped himself to more than he should have. There was a giant pile on the floor and he was guarding it. I know the other kitty had no part in this.

There is a big bowl full that is out for him. And I give him wet food twice a day. I swear if he ever got out people woul think he has not eaten for weeks.

But pinched food tastes better than the stuff you are given, even if its out of the same bag.

We have the same problem with our cats. The one will tear open any bag of food he can find- dog food, cat food, cat treats, etc. The other cat doesn't take part in tearing open the bag, but she definitely takes part in eating it. Even the dog will go eat the food if the cat opens the bag for him

One time, he got into the kitchen cabinet, knocked all the cat treat bags out, then ripped them open. We got home, and all the animals were in the kitchen feasting on them.

The cats have food out for them all day, and the cat that opens the food gets fed wet food twice a day in addition to that.
