I-Drive to MCO Question...Please Help!

All,

I figured I'd get the quickest reply from this board, besides, you're my favorite.

I'm trying to book a flight for my boss who will be in town in late September. He'll be staying at the Wyndham on I-Drive and will need to make a 3:45 p.m. flight out of MCO. How long is that drive going to take him? Google maps is saying 16 minutes, but I highly doubt that. Thanks!

That could be right if there is no traffic. Just depends on the traffic I would allow plenty of time maybe tack on an extra 30 or 45 mins if traffic is heavy that day.

There are so many variables here. Traffic can be a real issue at that time of day. Even if it wasn't, there are lots of accidents ("crashes") that will slow things down.

I would allow 45 minutes to get to the airport. If he has a rental car, then allow another 45 minutes to an hour if the car rental company is off site. If the car rental company is on site, then 15 minutes is plenty.

There are two routes to get to the airport from the Wyndham. Straight down Sand Lake, cross over Orange Ave and onto McCoy Rd. Follow the signs to the airport.

Or, down Sand Lake to a right on Orange Blossom Trail onto the Beach Line (SR 528 East) to the airport.

The McCoy route is shorter but it's stop and go with traffic lights. The Beach Line route is longer but faster. Also, Beach Line route is easier to find the airport (signage is MUCH better).

16 minutes would be accurate at 3:00am.

The most direct route would be straight over Sand Lake Road as Armand suggested.

Sand Lake Road is a very busy road with several major interesections,

I would suggest 60 minutes from the hotel to the airport and all of that is because of traffic and congestion.

That hour is not included in the advance arrival time the airlines suggest.
