Hi everyone
First time to Disney in 40 something days - and super excited!!! Have learned a lot on these boards, but first time to post. Ok - so I have a couple of questions - Does Disney allow you to bring in a water bottle? We don't have diaper bags to carry in - but I drink probably around 1 gallon of water/day and don't want to be spending $2 for a dinky little bottle every 30 mins!
I'm guessing a bottle of water counts as a snack?
Thanks!!

Yes you can bring in water bottles as long as they are not opened. If you drink tons of water like I do you should ship some water to your hotel.

Go on Costco.com (you do not need to be a member). They have cases of water for $6.99 and that INCLUDES shipping. Put in your resort address and ship yourself 2 cases. We do it every year. Plan on 4-5 days for shipping. We thorw 6 in a little cooler bag (small enough to fit under the stroller) and off we go every morning. I also throw in a few crystal light lemonaids for a litlle variety for the kids.

Works great - any questions please let me know.

Sorry - did not answer all your question - yes water counts as a snack item

I have been thinking about this lately, too. I'm interested to see what responses you get.
I drink at least 80 ounces a day, but I will mix it up - milk, lemonade, etc. because water can get tired after awhile!
I am thinking of purchasing the refillable mug for non-water drinks and then I'll order a bottle of water whenever I get my meals (we have the dining plan). I believe that ice water is free at the counter service places, so you could just ask for a cup? And you could also bring a bottle in with you, no problem.

I am a diabetic and drink lots and lots of water daily. As has been stated, you can carry in bottles of water (but they do get heavy to lug around as the day progresses) There are water fountains where you can refill them and if you bring in single serve pour in drink mix you don't notice the FL water that many complain about. Any counter service will give you a cup of ice water at no charge if you stand in line and ask.

I have entered parks many times with an open 20 oz bottle of water, I have never been told the water must not be opened.

I just wanted to mention that refillable mug is only good at your resort - not at the parks

We took water bottles into all the parks and didn't have any problem at all. My girls both have those strap carriers for their water bottles and had opened the water before we got to the park and no one ever said anything. We refilled the water bottles throughout the day at water fountains. I was worried about the taste of the water but my girls didn't comment on it at all. I personally don't like drinking water, so I took along several of those pour-in mix packets (there are some liquid ones that are really good -- Water Sensations, I think -- since they're liquid you don't have to worry about whether or not they dissolve fully), as well as some Propel and Crystal Light packets, just for a change of pace.

I think the CMs are quite understanding of the fact that it's hot and humid down there and won't worry about whether the water bottles are open when you enter the parks. At least that was our experience.

We drove down, so we took a case or two of water bottles in the car with us so we had plenty.

This is news to me. We always bring opened bottles of water into the parks since we usually drink some on the way to the buses and from the buses to the gates.

I agree with the pps about shipping water from Costco....we have done this a few times and it works out WONDERFULLY!!

Unlike many other theme parks, Disney does allow you to bring in open containers.

We used hydration backpacks for our trip. We filled them with ice and water before we left the resort. If we were running low or they got warm, we got a free cup of ice water at a CS restaurant. They were very convenient because our kids prefered to sip here and there (especially when in lines) rather than drinking an entire drink with a meal.

Do you know if you can ship the water to the DCL cruise port? We bought a case of water on the ship and it was $30-something and since they automatically add 15% gratuity made it like $40. We couldn't even finish it all so we just left it for our stateroom steward.
What a waste. :sad2:
I'm also curious what brands they sell. DCL only had Evian and little ds said it had a weird taste. It tasted fine to the rest of us and he was just getting over a cold so maybe it's just him.
Thanks!:goodvibes

We did the exact same thing and LOVED it. Seriously, I have never felt as good after a long day in a theme park as when I had the hydration pack. The headache, fatigue, and lightheadedness I would normally feel never happened. We would fill our packs 2/3 full with water and store it overnight in the fridge, and in the morning we would fill it the rest of the way with ice. During the day, we would ask CS places for a cup of ice to refill the packs. The cool water really felt nice on our backs too.

I had a OutdoorProducts Mist (about $20 at WalMart) and my girlfriend used a Camelbak Dream which she got for about $28 after a 110% price-match at eBags.com. The walmart one did have a plastic taste to it at first, but it wore off with use.

We have always had water delivered by GG. I hear that Staples is good too.
We have always went into the park wth opened waters. We drink on the bottles throughout the day. They will give you free tap water at most places. It is fine, but if you are concerned about the taste, just add protein mix, kool aid, etc to the cup.

I like the idea of ordering water from costco. I want to try it myself.

Has anyone else oredered other items from there? We are on DDP(bisic) but I know that the kids will get the munchies inbetween. Especialy my youngest who will get quite intolerable if she doesnt eat every couple of hours. I was thinking maybe I could order some prepakaged trail mix or snacks for her to keep in her fanny pack. Has anyone done this?

Also, when do you order? Can you ask them to send them on the date that you arive, or do you have to time the order so it gets there on the right date?

Thanks.

The water is shipped from a warehouse somewhere in the southeast, and takes 2-3 days to arrive. I would plan on ordering three days before your arrival day. If it arrives a couple of days early the resort will hold it for you, but I wouldn't count on them holding it for several weeks. You can get the water from here -- just order three days in advance of your arrival and have it shipped to the following address:

Have it sent to the following address (replace the stuff in blue with your actual info):

Your Name (Guest)
Resort Name
Resort Street Address
HOLD FOR GUEST ARRIVAL 01/01/09
Resort City, State, and ZIP

If you are concerned about the taste you can get one of the filtered sports bottles. They are easy to find on the web and they remove all of the Disney taste from the tap water.

Sorry if my information was wrong by todays standards but in Aug. 2007 my 5 year old son walked up to the scanner holding a bottle of water that was half gone and we were told he had to discard it or finish it - only unopened bottles were allowed.

Maybe we had a grumpy cast member that had been in the sun to long but I am 100% sure what happened. We did bring in 5 unopened into the park that day.

We always ship costco water to the resort. Only bad part is we stay at POR and we always seems to have a room the farest point from the desk and it is a haul to carry it back to the room.

To answer the other question - Costco does have a few other snacks on its webpage but not nearly as many as in the store. They have cheeze its and a few other things. You can find them on the webpage by checking under the "vending" catagory. Anthor option for snacks if you want is to ship yourself a box before you go. If you just put light weight snacks in it the cost would be low. I always just pack some in our suitcase and the extra room left on the way home leaves room for fun stuff we buy during our stay and also nothing ever seems to pack as tightly on the way home.

As for disney cruise line - you can not ship liquids to the ship but you can take any liquids you want on as a carry on.

Happy Travels

For about $10, you can get a refillable filtered bottle from Target. Then you can ask for a cup of ice water to pour into it when you need to refill. That way you are not lugging around several bottles of water all day, just one at a time.

We have done this and it worked out great. All of the snack counters will give you a cup of ice water for free. I do suggest the filtered refillables, though, b/c the FL water has a very strong sulfur taste.

We use garden grocer.com They have everything we need, including snacks. water, laundry soap, everything.
The prices are not too bad, and there is a $12 delivery fee. You should order as soon as possible. The delivery will be delivered on the day you select and the resort will hold your items until you get there.

Yes you can ship to the port:thumbsup2 Contact DCL directly for shipping directions, and to insure proper timing. Many of the disboards cruisers ship their FE gifts and other supplies directly to the port to avoid airline expenses. Last November we just carried on 2 cases of "beverage":rolleyes1
