DS's babysitter, familly and DS have had the stomache flu. Tonight DH came down with it. I'm the last of the 2 households who hasn't had it. :( It's only a matter of time!

Funny. I just read this after being awakened by my daughter who had just vomited. Loverly.

Tell me about it! Vomit is the worst thing in the world!

Yeah, I'm washing like a maniac, but after being thrown up on by DS and having just kissed DH this morning, I'm not sure I can escape it!
At least it wasn't bad for DS, just lasted the evening, we shall see about DH, he can take care of himself!

Stock up on essential supplies NOW, before you come down with it, too. If everyone in the house has it, you need at least a 2-3 day supply of food, diapers, baby stuff, otc meds, etc. Don't get caught short!BTW, we all got "it", too. Vomit, diarrhea, even the cat was throwing up! Oh, do stock up on kitty litter (for the cat!), toilet paper, etc. And don't forget air freshner!!!

DON'T forget to get new toothbrushes for when it's all done with. You don't want to be brushing with the same toothbrush you were using after ......

BUT... do not assume just because eveyone else got it..you will too. I don't want to curse myself, but handwashing and good old LYSOL are wonderful things. Megan caught it from school and spent her whole birthday night throwing up until 8 pm last night. today she was fine. Now Max has it, saying someone in his class was sick at school too. I hope he caught it at school and not here.

Since I have older kids it is possible to quarantine them.I allow them to use one bathroom and everyone else stays out of it until they are better and I have sanitzed it. I use Clorox Clean up and spray everything they touched with lysol. We leave in less than 2 weeks, I need to break the cycle or have everyone get over it.

I have 6 kids.....I would rather break the cycle. I think I will air out the house tomorrow if it is warm enough. God knows I have bleached the bathrooms enough and they are clean. Poor Max, he was at a Sleepover Birthday party at a hotel. He is just miserable..this is a bad strain. Please sprinkle the healing pixie dust our way!!!!! See the time, I don't sleep when the kids are sick like this.:( Melissa

Just settled my DS onto the couch with cartoons and blankets after also being awakened by a vomiting child. Must be one of those nights for all of us.

Hi all

Both my DSs have had this bug and we live in the UK! I want to know who has been coughing too hard over there and blown it over the "big pond"!!

Knock on Wood no stomach virus here....I sprinkle you with lots of pixie dust....Good luck:sunny:

Good luck! I got it a few weeks ago and spread it to at least 11 people that I know of, all before I even knew that I was sick. Oddly enough, Jacob didn't get it. I even had to keep taking care of him while I was sick, as DH was out of town, but he was fine. Maybe you'll escape it, too.

Add me to the list with kids who have it. My husband did rounds last night, while I get the morning shift. Not pleasant at all!:(

Hugs for your family and hugs for you.

My husband and 3 children had it 3 weeks ago. I didn't get it. I don't know how because I was the one cleaning and washing.

I must be too mean for a germ to jump on.

Often it is possible for a main carer to escape bugs because they have become imune to it from a certain amount of exposure. Don't know how you can ensure you become imune without actually getting it - obviously a very fine balance! There is obviously something in this theory otherwise G.P.s and other medical staff would constantly be ill.

(G.P. means General Practitioner and is your local family doctor, don't know if you have the same term in the US?).

Apparently there's more than one virus going around and one is especially bad. My 9-year-old has had that one since Wednesday. He is no longer throwing up but still has a little bit of diarrhea and no energy. He could hold down absolutely nothing, not even an ice chip, and after 10-15 vomiting episodes, our ped ended up sending us to the hospital for IV fluids at 11 p.m. at night. The fluids and the Phengren for nausea really helped the vomiting, and he slept until 1 p.m. the next day without even waking up. Since we got home at 2:45 a.m., I slept almost that late myself!

I'm crossing my fingers that the rest of the family doesn't get this.

My daughter threw up at around 11:30 last night and then a little more sometime during the night. It's almost 9am here and she is just curled up on a chair watching The Lion King. She is taking sips of water but she is tired. I'm hoping that at least for her the vomiting is over. I _really_really_ hate vomit.

I can cope with most illness symptoms - except vomit! Hubby doesn't seem to mind coping with that, luckily. Most other mothers I know hate dealing with vomit too. I can easily cope with an ill child (although not nice for the child or me), just the "v" thing, yuk!

There's the Norovirus (Norwalk Virus) going around again. It's the same one that was on the cruise ships last awhile back. Last winter DH & DS got it---- I lysoled EVERYTHING. I think inhaled so much of the stuff I killed off anything inside me. It is accompanied by really bad stomach pains, it's what sets it apart from a regular "stomach bug". Usually only lasts 12-48 hrs. But then you feel so bad it can take another 1-2 days to get your energy back.

Hope everyone feels better soon!!!!!!!
