Question? Would I offend the DCL servers if I asked for 1/2 portions of food (salad, main dish, dessert I know- I'm missing two more courses). My DH and I could share a meal once or twice, but I don't want to waste food by not eating the other 1/2 of my food. I would like to avoid over stuffing myself (like a turkey) in Sept.. thanks all.

I'm just guessing, but I doubt they will do it. My understanding is that meals are plated assembly-line style, so it is actually easier for them to throw 1/2 your food away than make a special plate.

For example, my DSs were 3 & 5 last time we cruised, but I encouraged them to at least look at the adult menu for dinner (only so many burgers, nuggets & fries I could stand to watch them eat!). They both ordered roast chicken from the adult menu EVERY NIGHT. I asked our server several times to just bring out one meal & an empty plate so they could split it. He kept bringing out 2 full size adult entrees. Obviously we wasted a lot of food. I felt bad about that, but it kept the kids from eating fried junk for at least one meal a day.

it may depend on your server and if you are late/early dining. one day i asked our server to try 1/2 portion of the vegetarian entree as my appetizer if possible, then ordered my appetizer as a backup. She proudly brought me what i asked for, and she seemed very pleased with herself. i would not have been comfortable requesting such often. but -- now i will say DCL portions are not huge and most every night i ordered multiple desserts, ate a bite or two of each and left the rest.

and you do not have to order one of every course -- just what you want. you can have three appetizers and nothing else if you desire.

you know i had another thought -- talkto your server at the beginning of the cruise -- if she/he knows you only want 1/2 portions ahead of time it may not be a big deal
